Finally! A glimmer of hope!

I had talked to my insurance company previously and the guy I talked to said my insurance only covers medications for fertility problems. I then went to my Dr.'s office and was told by the receptionist that my insurance covers nothing. Apparently she "worked with it all the time." So, my OBGYN did what she could and when that didn't work. She said she would refer me to a specialist. Only problem was insurance. Well, I decided to try the insurance one more time! This time I talked to a women! She took the time really research my insurance and it turns out my insurance DOES cover treatments. In fact they cover 80% up to 5,000 after a $500 dollar deductible. Then, they cover an additional $5,000 for medications if needed! I was so excited I made my appointment that day for the specialist! The guys has a great track record for helping women get pregnant!

I have insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota. I was originally told my insurance would cover testing only. I would ask about how the procedures are billed. I know that makes a difference on what an insurance company will pay. Also I don't know if it will apply, but insurance companies are contracted with some doctors and can only charge you the "contractual amount." For example I had a test done that was over 400 dollars, because my the Dr. was contracted with my insurance company I only paid 60 something. Even though they paid nothing for the test because I had not met my deductible at that time. Hope that helps you and good luck!

That is great! Congrats! I have Blue Cross Blue Shield Illinois. I was told the same thing, testing is covered, but not treatment...I am definitely going to be checking again with insurance to verify.
I wish some people enjoyed their jobs just a little more or cared at all. I feel like everytime I call I am interfering with their day. lol.
