i personally wont buy something like that for my 8 year old, not because its not amazing coz it so is, but i want her to be outside, feel the cold wind in her face, so ive got her roller boots i think she may want to be adopted

They might want the Ipod to listen to music while they're out which you can't do with a tablet. An Ipod touch may be an idea, it has apps/wifi etc but much less cumbersome

LOL,my two thankfully are out most of the time as well playing with their Flicker Scooters (best outdoor toy we have bought so far lol) Its more for over the winter with the dark nights comming in being up in Scotland thats as soon as they come out from school and they never get out after its dark dont care what time it is lol

also they are coming home saying they were on the Ipad and Ipod or Computer at school I want them to learn more when they are at home as well

Thats why Im thinking a Tablet would be best as the Ipod is more for gaming or so I thought but speaking to some other people they said you can do just about the same on an Ipod as you can a Tablet

So I am back to square one.....Totally confused lol

I think it depends what they want it for - For example an Ipod they can take out. Their friends may have one.. They could slip it into their pocket at school (even if their teacher may not be happy about it haha) . They're good for music... A tablet, even though they're better... you can't do all of that with as they're not very mobile. They're not the best for listening to things on either.

I'd stick with an IPod unless you want to ask them first x

I would go with the tablet - purely because they can't take it out (and possibly lose it/ have it stolen lol) a tablet would be a special thing to use at home when they can't go out And you can get some very reasonably priced ones now! xx

Dec is 5 and he is getting an ipod touch for Christmas as he loves to listen to music, so he asked for an ipod so he can take it out and about with him.

I think you should ask them which they would prefer

I would say if it was a joint present then a tablet - they can listen to their music on that without earphones (maybe not so good for out and about haha) but they can also both use it as the same time when playing games/watching movies etc x

I have bought my 7 year old a google nexus 7

It is lovely we have been setting it all up ready for him . He plays on my hubys ipod and my iphone and wants it for apps and movies , you can also put music on it and its not too big , we have had him a case that folds to a stand too . He is not that into music yet so wouldnt be bothered about putting it in his pocket.

He asked for an ipod originally but i know he wont really want it for the music he wants it for angry birds and bad piggies etc so the tablet for us was better as he can use it for e books , his school book club thing, and browsing the web .

I would say iPod, not sure I would waste all that money on a tablet for someone so young. Maybe an iPod touch?
