anyone pregnant with underactive thyroid?

Hi

Just wondered if there is anyone who has underactive thyroid and managed to conceive. i have just been diagnosed after trying for the last 10 months i am only on a low dose of thyroxin ( 25mcg) so i am hoping my levels will not take long to go back to normal and hopefully will conceive v soon.

I have had all the hormone checks and ultrasounds done and everything else is fine the doctor seems to think as soon as my levels start to return to normal i shouldn't have a problem as i am ovulating every month.

Would love to hear from you xx

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism while ttc #1. Once my levels were normal, I started ovulating and had normal cycles. It still took me 19 months (total) and 4 IUIs to get pregnant the first time. I've since had 2 other children, all while taking levothyroxine/synthroid. My level had to be increased during my first trimester with my first pregnancy. I've been on the same dose since then.

Good luck to you! Low thyroid can be controlled and managed and you can have a pregnancy!

Hi

Thank you i feel so much better knowing that once my levels are regulated then there shouldn't be a problem in conceiving my cycles for the last 3 months have been regular so hopefully will be easier now to plan too

lovely to hear your dose is now stable and you have gone on to have 3 kiddies just hope it doesn't take me much longer we have been trying for 10 month already but would rather be sorted out before hand.

Thanks Again xxx

I have!!! And I'm preggy now. Once your thyroid levels go back to "normal", there's nothing stopping u from getting preggy. I still take my Thyroxin pills 50 everyday.

I'm NOT pregnant (yet...), but I do have hypothyroidism. I found out after years of treatment that I wasn't getting enough hormone (Never did feel "right"), and I spent years not ovulating, even though my periods were regular until this past year. Well, my doctor increased my dosage, and this month I ovulated! It's crazy what treatment will do for ya (and it doesn't hurt that I lost 30 pounds). Good luck!!!

Thanks!

I see.... I'm not sure about hyperthyrodism, but my Endocrinologist did say that mine was a "border-line" case.

I still took a while, more than 1 year to conceive after they corrected my thyroid levels. That's also because I have PCOS and found out 1 year after NTNP that hubby had low sperm count too.

But I think if the thyroid is your only issue, it shouldn't take you long to conceive.

I'm 15weeks 2 days now... `do you see my ticker on my signature?
