Is anyone else...

Is anyone else having trouble agreeing with their OH/FOB on names? I mean, I really like Mackenzie for a boy or girl, and although my FOB agrees for a girl, i get the feeling if we find out its a boy he will immediately start saying its not a boyish enough name... Just wondering if anyone else is having this kind of problem.

I'm having problems deciding boy names if it is a boy. I already have a name for a girl, Delilah Adrianne Naomi Mullins. But I have no idea about a boy :/... I think Mackenzie is a great name for a boy or girl!

Yes!! My boyfriend and I couldn't agree on names at ALL for a boy. We agreed on a few girl names, and of course found out we're expecting a boy We (mainly I) spent forever looking through baby name books and online and made a list of the names I liked for a boy and let him go through and say if he liked them or didn't. We didn't agree on like any of them - as I don't like boy names at all! I find them so much harder than girl names. He then went through a list and wrote the names he liked and put them from 1-10 on a list

Anyways, we've decided on a name finally. I got to the point at about 30 weeks where I just started calling LO by the name I wanted when we talked about him. About 3 weeks ago I told OH I had been looking up more names and couldn't find anymore I liked, his response was 'I thought he already had a name?' .... Needless to say, I got the name I wanted Just because I called LO the name I wanted and OH became so used to it that it just 'became his name.' LOL sneaky sneaky

hannahhlove, thats a brilliant idea... i might just have to try that if it comes to that point. we should find out in 2 weeks at our next ultrasound if its a boy or a girl, so i guess i'll just cross that bridge if its a boy. but boy names are difficult! nothing sounds right. And we're waiting to choose middle name/s until we know for sure the gender.

Haha of course! Me and OH have totally different name likes. We managed to name our two other kids after alot of thinking so im sure we'll find a name for this one too haha.

I find I'll love a name then go off it at some point in.my pregnancy..instead of choosing one name why dont you have a few names? Thats what OH and me do, we go into the delivery room with a number of 'maybe' names and then decide in the moments after birth. Both times we came to the same name choice

My boyfriend and I took forever to find a name we could agree on. We argued about it a lot more before we found out we're having a girl. I think once you find out the gender (if you're going to), you can narrow down the names and it becomes easier. My boyfriend kept coming up with STUPID names that weren't even real! It was like he was just putting letters together because he liked the way they sounded. One time he suggested "Shiruken" because it's some kind of Japanese battle sword or some crap. All I could do was laugh. Then one day he suggested Evelyn, and we haven't looked back since! It can be a battle but you'll find something you both like trust me

I personally think Mackenzie is way to girly sounding for a boy.
imagine him being a grown man of 21 saying "hi, I'm Mackenzie"
Find a name you both equally love

We were Team Yellow so it was a bit more difficult! He always wanted Max for a boy but I said no. He said Summer for a girl, I like it but the last name would be Staff, it's like when she's older and someone says 'Oh this shop is looking for SUmmer Staff' 'Yeah she's right over there!'

We agreed on Riley Max for a boy (I hate that now ) but then I changed my mind.. In the end I liked Brandon Jay but when he was born we both thought Jake straight away but I'm not a fan so we chose his name from the 'J' because he looked like it had to start with 'Jay' then OH said Leslie after my dad or Lucas after him, and so he is Jason Leslie So easy to pick a name when we knew what sex he was and what he looked like! Oh god I've rambled!

It's weird though, I've only heard of Mackenzie being a boys name lol

Yes it was difficult. I have always loved the name Lucas for a boy, and had it in my head my first boy would be called Lucas, long before I met OH.

Anyway, I obviously said that was my name choice for a boy and he HATED it! My OH liked Oscar, I didn't. Eventually, we settled on Oliver, which was my second choice anyway. I'm glad now that he we did name him Oliver, he really suits it and I'm starting to like it a lot more than Lucas.

Girls names were a lot easier, even though I didn't like my OH's first-choice which was Poppy, we pretty much agreed on everything else!

Ah it's really strange thinking back to some of the name choices we considered, Oliver was also nearly a Tyler or a Leo, I'm really glad I didn't choose those. xx

I love Lucas but it's OH's name!
Well middle name, he's half American and his real name is Shannon Lucas I used to wind him up saying if it's a girl we could call her Shannon after her daddy x
