Advice about Christening my little one?

I'm a Christian. I was Christened at a young age but have never followed the religion. Yes, I used to go to church when I was little but only on special occasions (Christmas & Easter) with my Grandma. I also used to go to Sunday school but I think that was just to get me out of my mums hair for an hour or two! Lol. I haven't attended a church for about 5/6 years now apart from going to weddings and Christenings.

I would love my daughter to have Godparents but I'm not sure if that's possible without having her Christened. The father of my daughter will not be around but I don't think he is Christened either. I have already got a few people in mind that I'd like to be Godparents and I'm sure they would be flattered.

My mum fished out my Christening gown the other day. She seems to be always hinting at me about getting my little one Christened. But I find it a bit silly as I have never followed the religion and don't plan on doing so now. I seem a bit pressured into getting her Christened as we were all Christened as young babies and my Mum and Dad have also been Christened.

So I have a few questions;

Is there any official documents I would have to fill out?
Or does it just go by word of mouth?
If I did choose to get her Christened, will I be able to without her fathers permission?
Can my daughter have Godparents even if she isn't Christened?
Is there a limit to how many Godparents she can have?

Thanks for all your help
x

i think you can have godparents without being christened but i think being christened makes it more 'official' if you get me? i was the opposite, i was christened without godparents so i can't see why it wouldn't work the other way around.
i got christened at age 10 and i can't remember any official documents i had to fill out (i think my mom just had to fill out a standard form with my name on it) but i don't remember my dad signing it so you can probably get her christened without her father's permission
i don't know about the limit, i know it's traditional to only have one godmother and one godfather but that's the 'traditional' route - you can probably get away with having more hope this helps! x
