Where I live the schools actually have rules about student/teachers being fb friends and stuff. Even in my college my teacher said he had seen another teacher be fired just for mouthing off a student on his fb. In high school I am pretty sure it is the same. I think it's inappropriate especially for younger students.

After reaching adulthood and/or graduating, I don't see anything wrong with it. I have a few of my fave teachers on my facebook!

As far as being facebook friends while the kid is still a pupil to that teacher, I think is wrong on so many levels! I always hear those stories of how teachers and students have sexual relations, social networking sites I feel make that even more probable.

A few schools here won't let teachers have any contact with students on Facebook. Either ever or after they graduate!

I didn't think it was allowed for pupils to have teachers on fb and things like that?
A lot of girls at my school always talked to a couple of the teachers about adding them on fb and asking if they could and all the teachers said no because it wasn't allowed.

Yeah, I really don't think teachers should be friends with students on FB etc, I think it is because I think teachers should keep their home life private. And have a profession work relationship.. Once they've finished school then I think it is quite a good idea - keeping in touch etc.

How odd!

In my school the students/teachers always added eachother. I have several high school teachers still on my FB and they have congratulated me on getting my real estate license and LO etc.

During school we all added on another for pictures and what not. Plus when one of us missed a day of class or something our teacher would msg us what we had to read/do - I rather have my teacher FB me then text my cell phone or something!

I think it is just the day/age. As long as the teacher is not inappropriate then there shouldnt be an issue.

Strange. In my college I went to teachers were not allowed students as friends and their profiles had to be 100% private.
