weaning

how did you wean TW OR BLW?

I did a mix of both started with TW at 4 months then when LO was 6 months i gave him a mix of jar food and food that i ate and finger foods. With this LO i plan to blw for 6 months now that i'm a bit more clued up on weaning with LO i was clueless and had noone to kind of say you should be doing this or this so i kinda felt like i'd been thrown in at the deep end. Anyway LO now eats anything and everything and i've never had any real problems with him in regards to eating.

Hollie had maybe 3 jars of baby food from a spoon, then we started BLW. Best thing we did, she now uses a spoon to eat her mashed potato and bix in a morning.

Morgan uses a spoon really well (he will pick bigger things up which i don't really mind) but when i used jars i would let him use the spoon as encourage him to do so.

I BLW'd from 6 months, it was great fun and he eats anything, even blue cheese and people would always comment on how well he fed himself. Definitely recommend it. I got the Baby-Led Weaning cookbook and the River Cottage Baby and Toddler Cookbook and they were both really useful.

I'm defintely going to go for it this time, i mean i won't rule out the odd jar if i'm in a hurry or whatever but will have more of an idea this time. I was SO clueless last time and petrified in case he chocked along with people saying 'he can't eat that he'll choke'

We did BLW from 6 months and she was always pretty good with eating we got a lot of comments from everyone with mixed opinions and her daycare didn't even understand the concept and it took them awhile to realize that she could in fact eat most things with no problem. But shes been really good with a fork or spoon now and hardly makes much of a mess and eats everything. We are going to do the same again with this one.

Yeah I got that all the time people thought I was mad, my mum used to puree banana and give it to him if I left him in the room with her for more than a couple of minutes. Organix do really good toddler meals for BLWing on the go if you want to stick to it religiously - they say 1-3yrs but the chunks are so soft. Joels had them now and again from 7 months.

oh yeah i know which meals you mean why anyone would give them to a 3 year old i have no idea! LO's had those a few times. Even if i don't go through with the blw at 1st i'm going to make my own purees it's so easy to puree up some carrots or make some mash, i just assumed the jars must be good .. oh how wrong i was lmao!

awesome ellas kitchen pouches always looks pretty nice and healthy, jars with emulsifiers and oil in are a bit gross though - just don't see the need for it
