can constipation be genetic?

Not sure where was the best place to put this.

Taylor has suffered with chronic constipation for a little over 3 years starting at 6m treatment starting from 1yr.

My biggest fear when I fell pregnant for molly was that shw would suffer but the docs told me it's unlikely. Molly is now 13 months and from about 9months shes had the same signs taylor did. Last week her peadiatricion confirmed molly had stool backed up in her bowel. Taylor has a very distended stomach but so far mollys isnt to bad

just seeing of anyone has had any experience with this?

Sorry hun- no insight. I hope the doctors can sort it out and get your LO's help. Big hugs

Maybe others will have better help. Have you tried a naturopathic doc yet? Just a thought. I suffered from tummy issues for years (big teenager through my 20's)-- and after seeing many docs, who all said "all is fine"... um ok... I finally saw a naturopathic doctor and got on a restrictive diet for 3mos and supplements etc... and it helps SO much. I rarely suffer from tummy upset any more and no more acid reflux (prior I'd been on medication for years but it's no longer needed). Not sure how availabe those kinds of docs are where you live- but if so, might be worth looking into.

I know I was constipated as a baby and Ashley suffers with it but I'm not sure if it's genetic or just a common condition. Ashley's on movical and that has helped a lot.

I would try a food diary. They may not be allergic but they could have an intolorance to something which can cause issues.
