No, it's pretty much like that. We don't have sofa cushions on the floor, mostly because I would be terrified to know what might be under the sofa cushions at this point! But it's pretty messy. And I don't even have children at home all day as I work full-time. Our problem is that in the hour or two at either end of the day, chaos happens, and we're so busy and exhausted and never have any time to try to put it back together because our days are so packed already. We're always either rushing out the door or rushing to get to bed because we have to be up early the next day. Honestly, at this point, I try to avoid having people over so I don't have to take a day off from work just to get the house back into a reasonable state!
We manage to keep our place reasonably clean only because my OH and I work opposite shifts. We are both full time, but there are only two afternoon a week when we are both at work, so there is always someone home for at least part of the day who can do a cursory clean up. We also limit the number of toys my daughter has available to her so the toys don't take over the house. When she gets bored of those toys we put them away and bring out other ones from storage. We are by no means clean freaks though, so things like dusting and washing windows don't get done nearly as often as they should. We live in the country and have a dog so our floors are often dirty but we only manage to vacuum and wash them about twice a week. Laundry isn't too bad because OH is responsible to do his own, so I only have to worry about mine and my daughter's. I think the older your children get the harder it is to keep things clean and tidy so I anticipate things getting worse in the future!
It's bad! I manage to keep our living room tidy ish with a lot of effort, but all other rooms are a disaster. There are indeed clothes everywhere. My husband is as bad as the kids... if not worse! And as for the kids, well they don't seem to be able to take toys out of boxes without emptying the entire box all over the floor. Every time. It's a losing battle.
I think once you add multiple children into one house its inevitable. One baby/child maybe not quite as bad but now i have 3 its just beyond a joke. By bedtime its normally clean again (minus bedrooms) i do a load of washing everyday and have a nighttime routine but if you come in my house during the day be warned haha
An absolute riot till Ollie goes to bed at half 7 because I can actually tidy then! I work 12 hour shifts and OH works 9-5 so finding time is hard - on my days off I hardly feel bothered to clean plus my SPD makes it difficult to do a lot. I try to hoover every other day and we tidy at night. Cleaning property gets done around the weekend.
My house is a mess! Im a sahm. But I have no energy at the moment lol. I do the minimum lol clothes get washed when everyone runs out lol. I do dishes when there is no more spoons or bowls left lol etc. Its bad and I have to say I have the most understanding husband ever lol.
