We've had hand foot and mouth as well - not much you can do with them except give calpol if they are in pain. Its rare for adults to show symptoms so maybe LO picked it up from a grown up rather than a child?

My baby (she is still a baby but just saw this) had this. I know its common during the summer just because of the moisture from sweating and what not. So if your baby has been overheated like there feet get sweaty or anything it can cause the fungus to grow and what not. Also what the above said adults RARELY show symptoms so if anyone older had it your LO could get it from them. It is pretty contagious while there are blisters and what not though so I would keep him from other toddlers for a little while.

No I don't think they can catch it off animals, hand foot and mouth is different from the foot and mouth that animals have.

Freya had it two weeks ago, the blisters lasted about 10 days apart from the ones on her knees and toes which due to crawling she still has the marks from. She had a temp and cold symptoms which we used calpol/nurofen for, and we used anbesol or teething gel in her mouth to help with the pain from the blisters.

We also bathed her in chamomile tea and kept her nappy off as much as poss as she had the blisters on her bum.

maybe they're confusing hand, foot and mouth and foot and mouth? I've never heard of animals transferring h, f and m.

Maybe he caught it from your friends baby if your friends little one had touched his bum or willy while having his nappy done
