Climbing out of crib soon

This must sound like an obvious question, but I'm a first-time mom, so ...

What do you do once your baby can climb out of the crib?

You can't risk having her run around the house, finding chokable things to put in her mouth or pulling the TV down on top of herself etc ... while you're asleep and don't even realize she's up?

So what do people do? Lock her in her room so she has to cry out to let you know she's up?

I'd put her in a bed, put a baby gate on her door and leave her to it! I open my son's baby gate when I go to bed, and he always come into me in the morning, I hear him opening his door anyway. Cots are far too easy to climb out of lol.
