When my little guy was 2 I was about to give birth and I tried a bunch of stuff. I still picked him up and stuff but tried to limit it as much as I could. My husband is not around much during the week and I have no family here so not much choice to get on with the lifting. What I did do when I was too tired was just encourage him to be on his feet, walking somewhere instead of being carried, trying to play quietly reading books rather than boisterous play, and we did lie on the sofa together watching tv.
