Lauralu- does he only take medication when he's sick and having the symptoms? Or has your doctor prescribed that he takes them every day regardless?

Thanks so much for the information!
He only takes the medication when he gets those raspy, wheezy coughs/breaths. I am praying he just grows out of it! He has always had the mucousy thing going on. The doctor said it was a part of his acid reflux. We never put him on meds for that - we just switched his formula. xo

Hmmmm

Thanks for the information.
It gives us more to think about that's for sure.
We have an appointment to take him in for a second opinion, but it's hard because she basically disregards anything my fiancé tells her in regards to my stepsons health. Even if the information is coming right from a doctor, unless it's her doctor that she's taken him to she doesn't listen.

Thanks for the thread OP

Lillian has always been wheezy since birth. At the 8 and 12 week check we were told it was normal.

Since her first cold at six month sshe has coughed awfully at night and when going out into the cold. Again i was told this was normal. She has had two chect infections since 6mths.

At 12mths the coughing at night was getting horrendous. Hours and hours of it which has given us awful nights. And again wheezy and heavy breathing on exercise. Again the GP said not to worry.

Despite my brther and sister both having awful childhood asthma. My brother was hospitalised many times since being newborn with bronchitis and pneumonia.

I gave up and went privately. She was treated for allergy first-we have cats. Piriton twice a day. All that did was give her diarrhoea-lovely at 3am!

Went back and were given Ventolin with the chamber for twice a day. I must say it has helped the nights. And we have had some much better uninterrupted nights sleep.

I am still on the fence. Probably because we were fobbed off my so many GPs, but the Ventolin is helping

last christmas Mckenzie was hospitalised for viral induced wheeze and was on ventitlion every 3 hrs (10 puffs each time) after 3 days he was discharged on 2-4puffs 4 times a and by 2months he didn't use it but again last friday he started wheezing and coughing again through the night went to docs and gp prescribed ventilion again to use when needed.

tbn I don't know if he needs it or when to give to him he has a cold teething and a cough and now and again he sounds like he is wheezing esp when he gets really upset or excited and last night when he was sleeping I checked him and I could feel his chest vibrating when breathing also he coughs loads at night and wakes up early. Any advice would be great don't know whether to take him back to the doctors?

Harvey had bronchiltis when he was 18 months old,he was discharged after 3 days but readmitted 2 days later with 2 secondry infections.
After that we were told his lungs had been damaged by the RSV.Since having it,he was getting wheezy every week or so,so the docs put him on a blue inhaler..after numerous visits to the doc they diagnosied him with asthma and gave him a brown preventor inhaler.
He had an asthma attack 5 weeks ago,it was the most scary experience of my life
When ever he gets a cough or cold,it goes straight to his chest.xx
