I know, a child in my class had it once and an adult in my family. This is partly why I think it isnt' impetigo though, it's not spreading fast enough.
Plus, docs and walk in centre nurses say no but I do keep asking!!!!!!!!!

We'll see what they say tomorrow.
Poor sausage. It does look quite like impetigo to me too, Aisling had it once. I wouldn't rule it out just because it isn't spreading quickly enough. She only had it in an isolated part of her bum, it didn't spread elsewhere and no-one else who came in contact with her got it, lots of hand washing involved
Thank you.
I am being very over indulgent with the anti bac gel as well as handwashing!!!

I'm still between chicken pox and impetigo. I have been alternating between walk in centre then docs then last time walk in centre - Will see what the doc says tomorrow. Our doc is pretty good and it figures that he'll be better able to diagnose than the nurses I guess so we should have an answer tomorrow.

Kinda hope it is CP so he can get his immunity in while he's too young to really suffer with it.

Thanks for sharing your experiences

Me? Yes, it's nothing we haven't dealt with before, just makes me sad when he's got to go through it. We found the blessing of showers instead of baths on bad rash days. He used to sit on all fours with his butt in the air. The shower washes over his bum, so much more fun and nicer for him.
Aw so sorry your LO has a bad rash now. It's so horrible. I'm so thankful that it won't scar although I think this will leave a shadow for a while. Hope your LOs rash clears up soon x

Hi
Thanks for taking the time to write out such a detailed post
Origional rash Dr said was a thrush type nappy rash which is a yeast infection, and the cream has cleared that up (along with a spray my friend gave me) I've no idea if the antibiotics he had helped/are helping or not? I think it was the spray my friend gave which basically dried it out and stopped it spreading so much. We'll carry on with the antibiotics regardless.

Seems there's so much it could be, maybe it's a mix of things. So far we've been told nappy rash, thrush, bacterial infection causing the rash, now maybe chicken pox or impetigo to follow.

AAAAargh!

Docs tomorrow - again!

I've only seen pictures of CP on the net of the blisters once they're out, and at school a few kids that have had the early stages, but I've not really seen it in under 5s (which you have!)
Aren't the spots too small for CP? Tell me what you know lol x
I see a chicken pox outbreak every year in reception it seems like! The spots don't look too small to me, they do look like chicken pox spots and if he didn't have that big red patch I'd be totally convinced it was chicken pox. The big red patch has thrown me though as I have never seen that before. The poor little man x.

Well done with the nappy rash, it's looking a lot better!! The spots do look like chicken pox, more so cause they have little blisters in the middle. Bless his little heart, he is in the wars. Did the blistery spots start on his trunk?

Take a look at this link and the little girls back, they can get big red rings around them like your son has. http://medicalpicturesinfo.com/chicken-pox/

Update!

Have been to doctors again and he said it's definatley
Not Chicken Pox
Not Impetigo

Apparently just a different rash that's a little infected. Have to continue with antibiotics until it clears up.

Good news is that the thrush type initial rash is clearing up

They are tiny though, possibly hard to show on a photo. Just like a pinhead, and none have got bigger! The CP spots I've seen are a little bit bigger and look yellowy. These look more like spots than blisters if you see what I mean.
The initial rash was different, it was a thrush type nappy rash. Doctor has agreed that these spots are something totally different to that.

Just want it all to go!!

Its a big mystery, this rash. Looks like you are doing everything in your power to deal with it. Good job and keep up the good work.
