How long until LO is back to normal after tummy bug?

Rocco was up in the middle of the night vomiting Sunday night. It was only twice and it was within 10 minutes. He was fine Monday, but had diarrhea once Monday night. Tuesday he was very sleepy all day and I was giving him bland food still but lots of water. Wednesday and Thursday he was fine. My husband got the bug Wednesday and I got it early Thursday morning. Today we had a memorial service for a friend who passed away. My Mom watched him today and said he ate normally but maybe not as much as normal but she was concerned that he was very sleepy and clingy. He also had a very soft poo, not watery, but messy. I know diarrhea can hang on for a while after this bug, but how long should I expect him to be so sleepy and just not himself??

Between 1-2 weeks. For Omar it takes 10 days for his tummy to settle. He had 2 tummy bugs one at 6 months & the other one at around 18 months. Plain yoghurt, steamed rice, toast, apples & banana are good at this stage to harden his poo. Activia plain yoghurt is good after a tummy bug as it has probiotics

Hope he gets better soon Hun xx

Well my Mom called right after my husband picked rocco up and said he had vomited. She was concerned too that he hadnt peed in hours. So I called the on call pediatrician and she said it could just be that his stomach wasn't back to nornal and he ate too much at my parents'. And he wouldn't get dehydrated unless he was having multiple watery stools and vomiting. So that makes me feel better. But I just feel so bad for him. He's so sleepy and "blah" and just laying around. It makes me so sad to see him like this.

He perked up after a little while. I gave him crackers, water and a pedialyte freeze pop. He's had a few soft or runny poos since he got home. I have him set up on blankets on the floor in the living room in case he gets sick again, but I'm hoping since we've stuck to bland foods since he got home, he wont. I talked to my Mom later and she said she had given him milk yesterday and he had eaten macaroni and cheese today!! I think the dairy triggered his upset tummy again.
