DDH has anyone got any experience?

Hi all.

Not really sure who to turn to or what to do.
My LO is just coming up to 20 months and she is going for an Xray tomorrow to see if she has DDH. Im so worried and i feel so bad that it hasnt been detected sooner.
Has anyone been through this? How did you cope? what treatment was given.
Forgot to mention no.2 is due in 5 weeks time so im an emotional wreck

Hi hun, my dd2 was breech and I had a planned c-sec with her. I think about 2 months after she was born she had an ultra sound to get her hips checked over. For us everything was fine and we've not had to do anything further. It took ages for a letter to be sent to us telling us everything was ok though.

I don't know what treatment would have been prescribed/given had things gone the other way though.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy hun. Things will be fine what ever the outcome. Let us know how you get on tomorrow and what the dr's say when they do the scan.

No advice hun, just shocked it wasn't picked up earlier if she does have it. Is it affecting her walking or anything?

Hope the x-ray goes well and that everything is ok.

x

Hi, my DD2 was diagnosed at 4 months, had a tendon cut, spica cast and then brace, there is a thread on here, don't know if it will work:

If you want to know anything just ask

My DD is a hip dysplasia 'graduate'. She did the cast for 4 months, brace for 3 months. She has been contraption free since November and started walking finally about a month ago, a week before her second birthday! She's still not totally in the clear, she may need more surgery in the future depending on how her hip develops.

It is a tough road but I tried to remember that it's what's best for DD, even if it was a real pain in the @ss for the adults in her life. Do visit us in the thread hel_5 mentioned, there are still people going through treatment there.

my 18 month old has DDH and i am just waiting for her date of surgery. She will require a spica cast for 12 weeks and then a brace for a further 12 weeks. So i am in the same boat as you. It all came on so quickly and was a real shock. PM me if you wish x

We had a disgnoses of ddh from a v early age. We wore a brace for a few weeks and have had no problems since. Sorry ur diagnoses has come late. The steps charity are great for lower limb problems like ddh and have loads of info. We are members due to lo talipes as well as his ddh. From what i know about late ddh diagnoses as there mayb an operation. But please dnt worry about tht. Hope all goes well xx
