Eating non-stop??

Today I took Paige to a toddlers that I have never been to before. It was great!

It started at 9.30am and at around 10am they were given snacks... Tere was a table with little chairs and all of the kids (the older ones anyway) sat down and were given a plate with snacks on it... there was 5/6 wotsits, 2 little animal biscuits, some raisins, grapes, strawberry and banana.

Well Paige was the youngest by far at the table, the rest were all nearly 2 or over, and while the other kids were looking around and running about whilst eating, Paige sat and munched her way through all her snack without stopping. When she finished, most of the other kids had left to go back to play, but Paige started eating off everyone elses plate!! I tried to take her down a few times only to be screamed at, and she would just go back and start eating again. Eventually, the lady cleaned up all the food and took it away (thank goodness)... and as if eating it wasnt enough, Paige bid it a fond farewell and waved byebye to it while it was getting taken away...

Anyway, I was a bit worried that she was eating waaaay too much! She had her porridge at around 7.15 and had nothing since then, but jeezo she ate 3x more than anyone else!

SHould I stop her from eating like this the next time? I wouldnt have worried so much if she was just eating the fruit, but she was eating all the wotsits before everything else

I wouldn't worry tbh. Daniel was like that at that age - he would much rather of sat and ate the food rather than played, until the food was taken away and then he didn't sit still. He wasn't big either so he was burning it all off. As long as she isn't putting on excessive amounts of weight then it's not a problem. Children also go through stages when they eat none stop - Daniel is also doing this at the moment. He must be growing or something as quite honestly he could eat all day if i let him.

Thanks! I wasnt too worried about it because its the first time shes done it, but then I think "maybe she would eat like that all the time if I let her?" Which makes me think "Am I feeding her enough?" etc etc! She definitely burns off alot of energy, so I suppose a nice BIG treat once a week wont do any harm! lol

ETA - Shes also not big, she sits nicely between the 50th/75th line for weight and is on 75th for height... so she must be doing just fine

I think if she wanted to eat like that more of the time then she'd be a bit grumpy etc generally and she would complain when she'd finished a meal and there wasn't anything else.

She sounds fine to me and like you said a treat like that once a week won't do her any harm.
