Ear Infection/Viral question? *Updated - Been A&E*

Liam has been ill for a week and a half. Started last Friday when he just seemed a bit off and hot but thought it was just a cold. Then on the Saturday he came out in spots all over his face which we assumed was the start of chicken pox, hence his temp. By Sunday he was worse so we had to take him to the walk in centre. They just said it could be a viral infection or chicken pox but they weren't sure but said his ears were fine. His temp went up to 39.5 that day!

Roll on Tuesday and he had blood and gunk coming out his ear so we took him back Dr's and obv. he did have an ear infection. Was started on Amoxicillan (sp?) but then we were told he had to stop it as it was giving him diarraeh. Since then he still is in so much pain and it clearly hasn't gone but yesterday I took him back Dr's and they said it seems like he is fine and just give him calpol, the infection will go on its own?!?

Well today, he has now come out in a rash all over his tummy/back (see pic below), and has been crying all morning. All he wants to do is sleep and hasn't ate properly ever since he first started getting ill. He also has a really runny nose which he has had for a few days now.

Not sure what to do. Leave him be like the doctor said or go back and bug them for more antibiotics (maybe a different one)??

Here is a pic of the rash (looks worse in real life, stupid phone)

Thanksxx

Update: Well we went A&E, seen 3 drs and they all said different things. One said a severe reaction to penicillin and admitted us to the children's ward and then the other two said it couldn't be as it was 5 days ago when we stopped using it so would be too long for a delayed reaction. So, apparently it's just a bad 'viral infection' according to the senior doctor and to keep an eye on swelling of the mouth as it could be a more severe bacterial infection. He is now on piriton and some oral steroid dissovable tablets. Thanks everyone

I would definitely take him back to the drs - he has new symptoms so should be re assessed. Hope he feels better soon. x

its normal to have a rash with an infection. zakk had something similar a few months ago and it did go of its own accord.

penacillin will give him the squits... its a given. you might have to ride that bit out.

stomp back to the drs and see someone new if you can. you have both suffered enough!

I'm going back at 11am today. Liam's rash has got 10x worse and is now all over his body! It fades under glass but I've no idea what it could be, does it look worse than a viral infection now?

Oh gosh I hope he gets better soon and they find out what it is. I remember having a rash just like that and it turned out it was a viral infection that had just come out into a rash. Our bodies are so strange.

Dr was useless, said she wasn't sure if it's measles or just a viral rash (she admitted she didn't know much about measles!! :/)but seemed shocked at how bad it was and said come back tomorrow when she has spoken to someone else about measles and he may need blood tests but I'm not happy tbh. I've spoken with my sister and she is worried as we were all around hers at the weekend and my niece is pregnant so obviously she is panicking if it is measles it may harm the baby and I'm worrying too. Me and OH are going straight to A&E when he finishes work, I'm not waiting a whole day just cause she can't do her job properly!

I would 100% say thats an allergy reaction to the Antibiotics. My LO had it too, and was very poorly. They also told me they thought it could be measles but wernt sure.

I hope hes better. Zachs rash took a long time to go
