UPDATE: Please help any advice appreciated (a bit long)

I have never posted in this section of the forum before but need some reassurance.

My son is two and a half and has been a happy and healthy child. He has NEVER been one to fuss even when ill with a virus or teething.

Sunday was an off day for him. He woke up saying this hurts and he was pointing to his ear. Well he was fine until about 4pm when he woke from his nap extremely fussy. We thought he had an ear infection (no fevers tho) so called his nurse and they made an appt for the following morning.

We never made it to the following morning as things took a turn for the worse and he became inconsolable. He would fight us (literally) for 30 minutes, throw up and pass out on the floor (meaning sleeping) for about ten minutes. The cycle repeated for more than two hours and we decided to take him to the ER. They thought it was a stomach virus, gave him zofran and we went home after making sure he was able to eat.

He was tired monday (well we didn't get home until 3 am so to be expected). Tuesday and wednesday he was great and himself.

This morning he woke me up at 3am and when I went to his room, I asked him if he wanted his light (its a fiber optic decorative lamp that he loves) on and he replied "my eyes" and then stretched his arms out for me to pick him up. I took him to my bed where I thought he would fall asleep. That didn't happen. He could not get comfy. So at 5:30, he wanted daddy so he went down and laid with daddy until alarm went off at 5:45.

After my shower, I went down to find him in fetal position on the floor holding his head and occasionally he would cry. He didn't have a fever (we both work full time) and we thought that since we forgot to turn the A/C down last night that this was triggering this so we took him to daycare and went to work.

It is 11:30 and he is sleeping and hasn't eaten anything at all. he also got sick again to his stomach (clear).

I called the nurse who seems to think he could possibly be having migraines (I should point out on Sunday that he was grabbing his head and not his stomach!). He will be seen tomorrow. I'm sick with worry. Has anyone dealt with this at such a young age?? I'm scared.

I'm trying to get in touch with my husband as I am unable to drive. I should never listen to my husband as I had considered staying home with him today and now I feel all kinds of awful as he keeps waking up and crying.

What are you using to take his temperature - do you have an ear thermometer? Is he taking fluids? Have you given him any pain medication?

Not sure how easy it is where you are, but we have an out of hours emergency doctor service and if LO was that poorly I'd use that. Let us know how you get on

We are taking him to dr in 5 hours now instead of tomorrow.

We took his temp with a forehead (I know not accurate mostly ( but I know when he is running one and he isn't as heat isn't radiating from his head.

He still hasn't eaten and keeps waking crying.

He is keeping fluids and will drink anything. I'm waiting on my husband's work (hope) to let him off so we can go get him. I'm legally blind and can't drive so right now I feel so helpless. He was wonderful monday, tuesday and wedensday...

Dr strongly believes it to be migraines. He started perking up around 2pm although now he is just acting tired. He finally ate for us and is moving more.

Dr. wants us to monitor him and bring him in for a followup if he has another episode. At that time, he may be referred to a pediatric neurologist. They just want to do ibuprofen for pain at this point. Thank you ladies for replying.
