Nappy rash usually comes when poo and wee come together. She is unlikely to get the rash from just wee alone - do you think they might be leaving her to sit in poo instead of changing her straight away? I would speak to the room leader just to raise your concerns and ask that she is checked regularly just to make them aware that you are keeping an eye on them.

Thanks ladies, I appreciate the comments.

They do have sudocrem, but maybe metanium/bepanthen would be better for her as some of you suggested - she IS teething two molars at the moment so maybe that is part of it (though didn't want to just assume it's all "just teething" IYKWIM??)

She's never been one to complain about a dirty nappy so that does make me worry that she's not checked as freq... I'll speak to her key worker again next week... Makes me feel a bit better if only short periods in a dirty nappy can cause it, I was so upset thinking of her sitting in a filthy nappy for ages...

Thanks again

my LO gets a rash if shes left any longer than 5 mins in a pooey nappy (makes car journies a nightmare as we have to plan around her poo times)!!! xx

Not sticking up for them at all. But i used to work in a baby room and sadly it does happen. Especially this time of year, we would have all the toddlers running around in the garden when the sun was shining, and if she pood and was quite happy running around and playing then sometimes they do get missed straight away. You kind of rely on your nose when they poo, you know its someone so check, but when your outside you cant smell anything so she could have done it 10 minutes before you find it. Iykwim.

Team this with teething poo, and i bet it does get really sore. I agree with another poster and say you want her changed every two hours. And bepanthen is great

My nursery apply this to Molly at every change and hasn't had one bout since the first. It just helps protect her little bum whilst they get round to changing her.
I recommend Zinc & Caster oil cream too, I always apply barrier cream at every change & it keeps nappy rash at bay.

I don't think you're overreacting at all infact I had this last week. My lo is always on antibiotics as she only has one kidney, this makes her skin sensitive so I have provided sudocrem and metanium for the staff to use.

Last week my daughter came home red raw, I rang the nursery and told the manager (nicely) that it's not acceptable and I don't expect her to come home in that state. She had a clean nappy when I picked her up so whoever had changed her nappy last hadn't noticed that her poor bum was raw, that was why I was annoyed. They've got cream to soothe it and prevent it worsening but they hadn't used it.

They were glad I'd mentioned it and it hasn't happened since. If you're not happy speak to them and don't feel bad about it xx

Speak to them!! This used to happen a lot at Los old nursery. He never had nappy rash when he was with me then he started nursery and he'd have it at least once a fortnight. Since changing nurseries he's back to never having it. My lo has never been one to get upset about a dirty nappy so I have to be on poo watch all he time.
Tell them sweetie, doesnt make you a bad person for pointing out their failings!
