to get a travel potty or not?

we r on day 2 of potty training, all going well so far, staying in for a few days but will need to venture out eventually! We walk alot, and when i walk into town its about 2 miles with no toilets nearby! Do u think its worth me getting a travel potty? I have seen two sorts, a cheaper one with liners that you need to buy and a bigger one that folds. Can anyone recommend one? R they worth it? Alternative?
Thank u x

I would go for the cheaper one with the liners - you probably won't need to use it for very long because she will learn to be able to hold her pee but I think you might need it in the early days. We got a travel potty but only actually had to use it once or twice but it was nice to have the security of knowing it was there if needed. And with such a long walk I would definitely like to know that I could just whip it out if necessary.

I got one and I would definately recommend for places where you can't just tip it out! Like shopping malls, when you can't get to the loo on on time.

I got one of the ones that had the liners and and I only just went into a second set of bags, so used it 11 or 12 times in total. Definately worth it though, folded up quite small under the buggy. MY LO did prefer the proper potty tbh, but I re-branded it the "magic potty" only for using when we are outside and she suddenly got over her aversion to it!!

Thank you for your replies ladies, will definitely get a travel potty with the liners tomorrow, thank you so much.
Flower01- day 1 i took off her nappy as soon as she woke up and said if she needed a wee or poo she's to go on the potty (there had been a build up to this, including reading princess polly potty book and having the potty around for a long time!) I just kept her with nothing on her bottom, but a pair of leg warmers and socks on to keep her warm. I asked her every half an hour if she needed a wee. She held onto it for a long time that first morning and i was worried, but then she went in the potty five times in a couple of hours. We have just finished day 3 and she seems to be able to hold her wee well, we introduced knickers today, we have only had one accident and that was 3 poos along the floor when she was trying to get to the potty! I am going to try putting her in loose trousers tomorrow to see how she gets on, plus we are hoping to go out and get her a travel potty so tomorrow could be a learning curve!!! If you need to sound things out, or get another opinion on anything dont hestitate to pm me, i really dont know alot but i may be able to help a little.

For me, I had Georgia using the potty properly at 18 months, but she was used to sitting on for periods from around a year old. Sometimes she would use it sometimes she wouldn't but I always praised when something happened so that she knew that was the right thing and what she was supposed to do.

I started in the summer time and just left her without pants on round the house and cleaned up lots of accidents at first. Then I would have her in pants in the house but training pants if out and about. When I felt she was at a stage where she was understanding enough to use the potty but just wasn't bothering to ask because of the training pants, I put cotton pants underneath, so that she felt the wetness and uncomfy but I didn't have leaks over the buggy, car seat or in someone elses house.

She was fully potty trained (day time) by her second birthday. We still use night pants at night but we are getting to a stage where we could remove them soon if I put in a bit more effort (unfortunately i'm tired now and not about at midnight /1am to lift her and take her to the loo which is the best way for us to get her dry throuhg the night)

I know some people prefer the quick, do it in a week or so method, but for me it was early, slow and steady.
