I don't see it either. Sorry sweet. I let Fin alone (but supervised - by alone I mean I let him climb up without me hovering etc) play on much more "dangerous" metal climbing frames at our local park. xx

Ok so just me then !

Dont get me wrong i am out there with Miller when he is on it......but why have a platform with a completely open side!

The ladder for one isnt vertical its sloping....so Miller always sits down ...shuffles around and will climb back down.

If its safe to have that completely open gap......why bother with the other 3 barriers??

I'm not sure either....

I'm also wondering why you bought it if you thought it looked so dangerous? Or was the picture you've included not on the box, those boxes can be very deceptive when it comes to what the products inside are really like.

I assumed the other barriers were more about making it feel like a castle and giving the child a place to hold on rather than being an essential safety feature. I assume they have left a gap so that you can attach it to other activity toys in their range (can you say kerching!).

The one in the park near me is the same - one ladder side, one slide side, one cliff edge to keep parents on their toes

Is it the hole at the back which doesn't have any protection? Like above posters have said I wouldn't leave my child unsupervised on this anyway so it wouldn't be a problem

ETA - sorry i've just seen your explanation xx

Kids aren't as dumb and clumsy as we think they are (and make them by not allowing them to climb and fall)... They actually come with built in common sense, balance and skills if we let them use it. I'd just make sure that the product is not on pavement or any other hard surface and they should be fine.

Argh climbing frames make me feel ill, I am so over protective when it comes to things like this! Poor Lily has to deal with me clinging onto her jumper through the bars and holding her hand down the slide when we're at the park.

OP I'm with you on this one- I couldn't relax for a second if Lily was playing on this!

Ok so again maybe just me.......i spent 10 years designing childrens play areas and know for a fact if the platform is higher than 600mm.....and there is no 'play feature' there ( access ramp steps etc ) .....that it should be guarded.

But this is not a play area but a residential toy.

Still think it looks weird tho! Just seems stupid to just leave a gap! Seems to be encouraging the kids to jump off !

Thanks anyway ladies.....i'll shut up and get back to my day job !!! ( i now work in construction and lecture in safety in buildings, in and around staircases !! ..... ha ha ...may ned a new job )

Na, you don't need To look for another job

I wouldn't buy it! I wouldn't even let Omar play with something similar in a play area, the gap without a barrier looks dangerous. Even if your kid is not wobbly & can walk & climb properly, it doesnt look safe to me. xx
