Sleepless nights! Exhausted.

My little girls 21 months, and she wont sleep thru the night. Goes to sleep late, when i say late its now 23;50 and shes still hyper! she wakes thru the night sometimes every 3-4 hours, and then shes up at 8, she wont stay in her room.
We've tried everything from routine to cutting day time nap out. Nothing works.! x

Thanks, Shes just so hyper. If i had half of her energy it'd be ok. Shes had health problems her weight, constant nappy rash, not eating, allergy to milk. But shes never slept thru really so its not due to any of that :/ x

Sounds familiar! When does she nap in the day?

So she is sleeping for 4 hours? That sounds like a really long nap and may be why she is not sleeping well at night. You say you have tried cutting out her nap but again with this you need to be consistent for her to get used to going without a nap and if she clearly needs the nap (most likely does) how about reducing how much she sleeps in the day? this will help her to sleep better and earlier at night.

I just dont think she is tired after her nap to be sleeping.

Sometimes when they are over tired they don't sleep well, maybe a longer nap in the day could help the night time sleeping. Also if you don't already you could set up a night routine, like change into pjs/wash face/brush teeth/watch night garden and have a story (that's my routine hehe) and do the same every night so she knows its nearing bed time. Or a stricter way would to be just sit with her in a dark room at the same time every night until she falls asleep.

Just read the 12-4 thing, 4 hours is a long time. I think 1 or 2 hours is probably enough.

My LO has only just started sleeping through at 20 months so I feel your pain - he was a 2 hourly waker before that, argh!

Could she manage more of a nap, maybe she is overtired? My LO has at least 2 hours and if we miss his tired signs he goes super hyper and is a nightmare to get to sleep.

Anything in her diet that could be doing it? My brother was particularly affected by diet in terms of his hyperness.

If she won't nap more can you do some quiet time, sometimes as good as a rest!

How does she go to bed? What does she do in the hours before bed? X
