Tobi has been amazing with stairs since about 18 months.
Now I leave him at the top and let him make his own way down... It's the only thing he has a degree of respect for as something which could hurt!
We don't have stair gates up anymore either as he learnt to open them!
I suddenly realised one day I could hear him upstairs!!

About 10/11 months. She started going up and down the stairs supervised at 9 months, so we spent a lot of time teaching her how to do it safely.

I still don't let her go up or down without us as our stairs curve round and there is nothing for her to hold onto to steady herself. Plus she had a nasty fall which scared me half to death and made me more nervous!

We still don't, but his balance isn't very good and our stairs are wood & slippery!

I'm fine with DD going UP the stairs on her own.

But going DOWN on her own.. Not an option.

I tried to teach her to sit down and shuffle down them but she tries to walk down like an adult and holds on to nothing.

My LO is always supervised when going up and down stairs. He is more than capable of doing it on his own but I on't think it's worth the risk when I can easily be behiind him.

We still have the gates on the top and probably will for another year or 2 otherwise he would proabably want to be up and down al day and play on them!

We also don't have a banister or wall so if he did slip e could fall off the side on to a wooden floor!

About two and a half. She did fall a while back, from top to bottom and it scared her a bit. Sometimes she comes down on her bum now
