My son was in control of bladder and would tell me he would need a new nappy in a minute!!! But he hated the potty & toilet. We had 2 attempts and very few accidents but he would not really go on the potty. He also hated books about potties! Finally one day I asked as usual in the morning if he wanted to try the potty when I took his dry overnight nappy off - he said yes & did! We haven't looked back. No bribes, rewards etc required the satisfaction of pants not bulky nappies and being dry was enough. He was 2y5m.
Physically he was ready months earlier but mentally it took a while! I do think maybe I missed an early window as we were moving and I dissuaded him from trying at 20mths.
Well we have just brought him a potty chair. The dino training chair from toyrus and brought him some thomas the tank engine pants & t-shirt vests. Gonna start tomorrow morning with a really positive attitude & keep my fingers crossed! I've made him a reward chart & if he does a wee or a poop he gets to put a sticker on. If he does 2 wees on his potty then he can have a 'treat'. When he is using it consistently and I can say he is potty trained he is gonna get a present! wish me luck girls!!!! Xxx
