Help! Toddler holding poo!!

We are day four into potty training and it has been going pretty well. He has now pretty much mastered peeing in the potty. However after having a couple of poo accidents on the floor he now seems terrified of having a poo and is stopping himself from going. He is jumping up and down and clenching his toes to stop it coming out...... Even with a nappy on!

I am worried he is going to cause himself damage. He is sitting on the potty, but then he can't seem to go!! I think he wants to but he is scared!

I haven't had this problem but I think it is important to try to get him to go, even in a nappy, as holding it can cause more problems with constipation etc. I would try bribery/rewards, tell him he can have a new toy or treat if he goes for a poo.

Yeah we put a nappy on and told him its fine to go in his nappy if he wants but he didn't and we have been using bribery already for just using the potty..... maybe I need to tone down the rewards for wees so he needs to poo to get his reward and just gets a sticker for pees for something.....

Could it be that he's constipated? Has he been going regularly? We are having this problem with Lachlan because he has been constipated and his poos were very hard and causing him discomfort Doesn't help when you want him to do it on the toilet lol.

Willows doing the same, because she feels uncomfortable she is slowly getting constipated. We are day 6 of potty training and she seems to poo in her knickers after trying to sit on the potty but then she holds it and waits until she cant hold it any longer
Not really sure what to do and how to get her to go in the loo!!

x

No ideas either just wanted to say we are in the same situation!

I have been potty training my DD for 3 weeks and she is doing really well with her wees, had a few accidents but to be expected. She initially started off doing really well and pood on the potty a few times but the last few days she just won't do it. She has been dancing around the room obviously wanting to go but wouldn't. Really feel for her because I don't know how to get her to go on the potty?? Lets hope someone has a magic answer!

We have had a few successful poos in the potty so far. We are a bit gross for most i think though because LO has come to the loo with me when having a number 2 and i have shown her a poo in the loo

My daughter won't poo on the potty, it has to be the toilet! At first we just caught wee's and poos accidentally by putting her on the potty regularly. The first poo she looked at in shock and the second was rather runny, she'd eaten lots of fruit! She really didn't like what she saw and wanted to go on the toilet like mummy. Now she's happy that her poo is a long way down! X
