I got all 4 impacted wisdom teeth out about 8 years ago - I was under sedation for it. The day I got it done I needed help as I was still out of it from the sedation and I took the next day off work. I refused the prescription painkillers, but extra strength ibuprofen worked well. It was painful, but not nearly as bad as all the horror stories everyone was telling me about! It did take me about 4-5 days to be able to speak well and kind of eat soft foods though

I had a wisdom tooth out a couple of years ago and tbh, I really didnt think it was that bad. After the procedure, I went home and took some painkillers before the numbing stuff wore off and just kept it topped up for a couple of days. I had to be careful what I ate for 3 or 4 days...soft stuff initially (soups, mash, pasta etc) and then progressed onto more solid stuff. What you have to be careful of is the clot that forms in the socket to protect the new gum while it's healing.
Anything like hot liquids, chewing on that side can knock the clot out and cause dry socket (dry socket is awful! I've had that when another tooth was taken out) so just be careful for a few days.
I have to say that I was fine to look after Evie, I got on with my daily routines as it took my mind off the pain. Only thing was bending down... it made the empty socket throb so again, be careful of this!

Hope it goes well! x
