1st Month TTC and Pre-Pregnancy Nesting?

It's finally August, which means my husband and I can finally TTC! I'm a CPA so we waited to try to avoid tax season. The last 9 months or so have seemed to be filled with everyone around me getting pregnant and I've tried to be patient, but I've definately felt some jealousy! Then in April my first niece was born and that really made me even more excited to have my own! Is anyone else experiencing "nesting" even though they are not pregnant yet? I'm a planner, and am so excited about hopefully getting pregnant soon that I'm trying to plan everything out. I already have lists of names I like, have stocked up on a few baby items (including a crb that I got an amazing deal on!), and constantly discuss different things with my husband such as when we'll tell people, etc. I've been off of the pill for a year now, so I'm hoping that we're able to conceive right away this month. If it doesn't happen it's definately not for lack of trying! Hopefully this is the month because I am so excited and hopeful!

Hi Corinna, I wish you the best of luck that your TTC journey is short! We came off IUD three months before our wedding in the hopes that we'd have a honeymoon baby. We're coming to the end of our 5th cycle TTC and still haven't gotten lucky so don't get your hopes up too much for your first cycle. I did and was positively devastated when AF arrived....!

Hi hun!

Very excited for you, hope you get your bfp soon!

Call me crazy but 4months ago when I stopped the pill and started trying to conceive I started nesting and haven't stopped since. I have loads of things for the baby and even buy baby magazines and pregnancy magazines, it has worked out as a good thing for us as we have gotten afew things each month so that we are totally prepared for when we fall preggo and have a baby. We have just left the fun things till last like the clothes for a boy or girl and the toys... we want pink or blue of course lol! It has helped spread the cost! And I have a list of things that need to be done around the house during my 9 months of pregnancy... like giving the aircon units a really good clean and having the carpets cleaned... all to be started once I get my bfp sometime during this year hopefully! We have even began sorting the nursery, I enjoy filling it with boxes of things I have bought like baby monitors or special baby pillows, all to be opened up and put out and organised during my pregnancy. I have also decided that if we can't conceive for some reason that it will be a lovely room for a baby that we adopt. So it's all good! I feel very prepared and don't think I will stop nesting untill my babies have grown up and moved out... and then I'll start nesting for my grandbabaies which will probably include keeping everything I have now for then lol! And the best part has been having the time to carefully go through everything in the shops so that we buy things that aren't too expensive and are just right for us.

Enjoy your nesting!

I know that I am most definitely nesting. I have bought a few small things and my girlfriend who just moved sent over boxes of maternity clothes, I even found myself trying them on in front of the mirror. I also have found myself looking at baby sites and even wandering through the baby department of stores just to browse.

My only advice would be is to not get too excited about conceiving. I know easier said than done, but it will come when the time is right. Best of luck to you and lots of baby dust!

Well at least I'm not the only one stocking up on baby stuff I figure why turn down a good deal. And yes, definately easier said than done not to get too excited! I swear I've got baby on the mind about 98% of the time! It's so excited to finally be at a point in life where you are completely ready for a baby to come into your life. I'm so excited to see what the next few years hold!

I"ve definitely got the baby on my mind all the time....with all of the google searches and forums that I visit to read about it is crazy. I haven't bought anything yet, but have bookmarked all of the stuff that I'd like to get for the baby. I've even decided how to decorate the nursery. Hopefully, I can get pregnant soon and start buying all of the fun stuff. DH & I are going on month #2 for our first baby. good luck to everyone this month.

My DH and I buy things as we see them. I figure it's cheaper than buying everything at once so we have a "baby box" under the bed with a variety of clothes for a baby girl or baby boy in 0-3 months up to 2T. We were going to start buying diapers but babies grow so fast I don't want to have extra in a size we don't need so we just have one box of newborn diapers so far. We still have to buy all the big things like a crib, changing table, car seat, stroller, etc. though. We'll get all that when we know the gender of our little one.

Honestly, I can't bring myself to buy things. I mean, I think about it. I go price stuff. But I haven't been able to buy. I want to start stocking up on diapers and I've been gathering coupons, but haven't bought yet. Maybe it's not real yet that we're TTC as it's my 1st cycle too. I also have a hard enough time handling the TWW and avoiding sympom spotting that I think an actual purchase may just send me off the deep end. But I am a total planner as well. I am planning on switching insurance carriers in January b/c the one I am currently usuign does not support midwives or water births. I have also heard that the hospital they make you use pushes for back labor, discourages other types of laboring, and pushes pain meds. Not interested. That's as far as I have really gotten. I also started prenatals and scheduled a "preconception" appt. that I hope will turn into a check up prior to the 6 week mark.
