Doctor put me on metformin unnecessarily? Anyone else on metformin?

Hi Ladies,
I just got back from the doctor's office and I feel blessed that I have a doctor guiding me closely although I have only been ttc for 3 months (this is our first official month of serious ttc). What I'm kind of unsure about is that he put me on metformin, saying that it will help me get pregnant faster. I asked him if it is necessary since this is only my 1st official month trying, the last 2 were ntnp. He said he thinks it will be great for me. Came home and did some research and it said its used for type II diabetes and for people who don't ovulate. I'm kind of scared now because I feel like I have fertility issues although I did get pregnant 3 months ago. Aside from the metformin he also prescribed prenatals, fish oil, and vitamin d. Thats 4 meds total that I have to take in a day (7 tablets total). My overall health is excellent, I work out moderately 5 days a week and everything turned out great at my exams. Did anyone else take metformin and how did you feel about it? Thanks!

Hi there! I was on Metformin through my first round of Clomid (50mg) and it made me feel AWFUL! sooo very tired and ohhh I hated it! I am now on my second Clomid round (100mg) and awaiting my progesterone blood tests (day 21) hoping that they will be higher (last time they were a two ). Anyway I have just heard from a friend that I should really be on Metformin also to increase my chances...but I don't have PCOS nor type two diabetes and that is what I have heard are the two main reasons why you take it...hmmm...however if it does help your chances of ovulation then perhaps I should start it again...Have you been taking it?
