Hi -can't figure out if I ovulated or not with irregular cycles :-/ Help?

I'm new to TTC forums, am 28, and am TTC my first with my DH.

I quit birth control after 7 years straight, about 11 months ago and my cycles were regular until Nov 1, 2011 (within 28-33 days - and I took a random test LH spike test and got a positive on CD 7 during one cycle early on).

Then I had a 66 day cycle - got my period Jan 1, 2012, then I had a 77 day cycle and had my last period March 14, 2012. Those really bummed me out.

Admittedly, I was under a lot of stress during these really long cycles - I was evicted from my apartment, had to move into a new apartment, tried to fight the eviction in court, and had to do a lot of stressful things like organizing a move and coordinating that. I realize stress can cause anovulation and skipping periods. But they still seemed odd for me after so many months of regular cycles.

Now. I calculated my average cycle length over the last 9 months or so and it's averging at 45 days. I tested religiously after my period March 14 starting CD10 for an LH spike but never got a positive.

It might have happened in my sleep because I've had a weird sleep schedule due to many issues. Or I might not have ovulated - I'm just going on my "women's intuition", the left ovary cramping twice that lasted about 2 minutes each time, and my BBT chart. Is that enough?

I began testing my BBT on April 1, 2012. It stayed in the 96.8-97.5 range, then suddenly jumped to 98.6 (Apr 7) and then 99.6 (Apr 8) this past Sunday and Monday respectively. The ovarian cramps occurred lateI took this as a sign that I had ovulated, because I felt middleshmertz (sp?) pain in my left ovary (not terrible pain, just cramping), and I felt it twice, then it stopped (late Apr 7/early AM Apr 8).

So I'm guessing I ovulated on April 7-8, because that was the day my temp spiked and it's remained up there (Ovulating April 7 is CD25-26!)

I detected no LH spike, but I had kind of lagged on testing because I started on CD10, and was getting fed up with no results. Nothing was showing up but the control line and a light pink line. I feared I was wasting tests, and was in for another 66-77 day cycle - I'm short on money so those tests are valuable to me.

Other clues which lead me to believe I ovulated April 7th/early AM April 8 were my cervical position, it changed from low and hard, to high and soft on April 5-6 and my CM became like egg whites, thick and stringy.

Anyway, DH and I baby danced on April 4, and again April 9 (I assumed I still had a chance 36 hours after possible ovulation, and also that it was possible some swimmers were still alive after the April 4 baby dance since sperm can live for 5 days).

I am new at the BBT charting but I will attach it here. Do you ladies think I ovulated on April 7 (cd 25)? Or is that not enough of a spike on the BBT chart - am I interpreting wrong? I did not move before taking ANY of the temps the past 5 days. The first few days I had issues remembering but I've gotten good at immediately reaching for the BBT thermometer first thing.

I'm sorry if these are silly or dumb questions, I am just really confused. Birth control really messed with my cycles (so has stress I'd imagine). I know my chances of conceiving the first go round are very low, and I know, I know...I'm a smoker and have vowed to quit IMMEDIATELY upon finding that pregnancy test is positive, and I realize smoking is reducing chances of conceiving by 40%. But it's REALLY difficult for me to quit.

I'm confused because my cycle seems so weird.

According to countdowntopregnancy.com, with a 44 day cycle, I very well could be ovulating this time of the month.

Am I doing this correctly or is it all in my head? Thank you all for any reassurance.

I'd say you O'd on the 7th (your last day of low temps before elevated temps).

Thank you!

Anyone else think I messed up or something? For some reason my temp dropped but I also got very poor sleep and woke up at an irregular time. Does that happen to people? I got a 96.9 this morning. I hate birth control. My last two cycles were 60 some and 70 some days, so it's almost impossible for me to predict when I'm going to ovulate really.

ETA: I quit BC several months ago, but I think it's the reason I might not be ovulating or that my cycles are so irregular. I can't waste 50 tests in one cycle, I don't have the funds to do that every cycle. And it's going to be impossible to get pregnant if I only ovulate once every 65 days or so. I hate my body right now.
