Out this month, but not really by choice

So April is out for me for TTC. I need to have dental surgery (all my stupid wisdom teeth) and it was going to wait until June initially, but an opportunity came to have it done this month. Rather than miss out on 2 mths of TTC, I decided to book April and not TTC this month. Yesterday, I was supposed to O and even though surgery is only a few weeks away, I don't want to risk even being the remotest bit pregnant with all the drugs they'd use during the procedure and afterward. My hubby is a little disappointed. So am I. But I'm more scared about the procedure and how I'll feel.

Anyway, good luck to all the rest of you TTC this month.

I had all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth removed when I was 16. Obviously I don't know if you've ever had complications with anesthesia or dental work before, but for me it was fine. The drugs managed the pain well and I woke up swollen, but no worse for wear. Just don't fall behind on the pain medication because that's when it hits and hurts. Get lots of rest and good luck! You'll be in fine form for the next cycle of ttc with the stress of this looming procedure out if the way.

I've actually been lucky in that I've NEVER had any dental work done. No cavities, no freezing, no teeth pulled. I just had braces when I was in 2nd grade, so this is why it all frightens me. I will be sure to take my pain killers and really hope this really will be a million times easier than I'm imagining it in my head.

On the upside, I'm glad I was able to get in this month so I can get back on the TTC 3 weeks from now instead of 2 months!

good luck with your surgery.......sometimes a break is good my hubby and i ttc'd jan/feb and had to take a break in march because i also had a chance to get lasik eye surgery, this month is off limits too as i only had it 3 weeks ago so i was told to wait until the end of april, as i had to take steroid drops for a week after........so i know how you feel......hopefully we get our bfps in april!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to echo not to worry too much about the surgery. I'm not sure what options you'll get for pain management, but when I did mine I took the gas and sedation, which is nitrous oxide during the procedure and a shot of something before it starts which doesn't put you out completely, but makes you consciously out of it and relaxed enough that you're fine. I used to have a real phobia of dentists, thanks to having some crappy experiences with them as a kid, but I was totally calm and okay. The recovery is definitely worse than the procedure, but just take time off, rest, don't try to eat normal food again too soon, and take the pain meds they give you until you are feeling back to normal.
