Melatonin: good or bad?

I will be undergoing IVF soon and the FS has suggested that one of the supplements I may want to take is Melatonin 3mg/day. I've been doing some reading on the internet on this and the information seems conflicting.

On one hand, there are studies that seem to show improved chances of fertilization and implantation with Melatonin supplementation and there are others that show that it may affect ovulation negatively.

Have you ladies had experience with Melatonin? If so, would you please share your personal experience with it? Thank you.

I think I'll post this in the IVF forum also.

If you're doing IVF there will be no ovulation to be affected! I've been on it for months.
I was on it and DHEA for two months when I got pg naturally (sadly ended in MC) after 3 iuis and 4 IVFs!

i get it from the states and you have to take it at night as it may cause drowsiness.

I was on it when I got pregnant.

It did not affect my ovulation and I took 5 mgs / night.

I think it also helped improve my overall mood.

Indi- how long did it take for it to work? I'm still on the fence about it but if it wouldn't hurt I'd start taking it now for my Natural cycle
