Im 38 with PCOS too!

Hi, I had written a LONG note, but I because I am new I and tried to post links I was shut into a timeout ..Im working up to those 10 posts so I can post a link or two.

Here is what I had to some degree... Thank Goodness I copied it!! I just ran through and deleted all links..I hope!!!

Hi!! Welcome, I too have PCOS and was diagnosed formally last August though I suspected it for many, many years ago. First go get some books, there are some great ones out there, also check out soulcysters online GREAT online support group!!

Please check out Amazons book selection on PCOS and even your local library will probably have some reading material.

I have found that reading up on it does help understand the why's and what's. I literally cried tears of JOY when my DR. finally confirmed it! I was so happy to finally have something to treat. I am currently on Metformin (2000mg a day, but working up very slowly to that dose...it does a number on your tummy..carbs and lettuce-go figure- are EVIL!!) Im also on Welbutrin for ADHD. Double whammy!! I have noticed that the meds do help though and that I am estatic about.

Weightloss is honestly the thing that helped me conceive my first child. I lost 35-40lbs before our wedding and I was also on welbutrin at the time which did help me lose some of that weight. My cycles came back and poof we were preggo two months after the wedding...Now that I am older(I was 32 then) things are not as easy, in fact it has been downright impossible to get pregnant. I am just starting clomid to try to get some timing down. My cycles have returned thanks to the Metformin. I'm not sure what your doctor is suggesting but I do hope they understand it. So many women are embarassed to even bring it up to their Dr. but I think they would be so happy to know that there is a name to what they are dealing with and help.

I wish you the best of luck!! I know the frustrations that go with PCOS and all it's "lovely" symptoms. Any questions etc. feel free to ask.

Thank you for your post! That was very sweet and thoughtful of you! I'm also on medicine for bipolar...that is my double whammy....My dr. wrote a book...not on PCOS but a diet to follow. I like you, broke down in tears at his office after he told me. All the drs. that I have been to...tell me I'm fine and that our problem is my husband. I had a sneaking suspicion that there was something going on with me but I was never taken seriously. I cried in the car on the way home too....finally an answer...something I can grasp on to. My dr. wants me to get my weight down a bit, then he will put me on meds for ovulation. The diet is very strict, but I know I can do it. My dh and I are soooo ready to have a baby and now I feel like I will get that chance.

I will def. check out books on amazon and the library...those are great suggestions...I have been on dr. google since I got home from my appt. but it didn't really help...except now I realize...the weight gain (soooo hard to lose even a pound), TMI..the extra hair growth...not on my face so much...ok a few but the min. I see one I pluck that sucker out! On my belly...that is where the extra hair growth, (I'm disgusted with it, I have a hair removal gadget to get rid of it....until it all grows back! using a clearblue easy ovulation monitor...always getting the "highs" but NEVER the egg symbol.

I agree with you, I went to a specialist and it took one blood test to tell me why I wasn't getting pregnant....I have spent at least the last 3 years going to drs. and getting no where...till now!

I wish you lot's of baby dust and hope you get your bfp very soon!!!!

Your welcome!!!

It's really nice to meet people who understand what you are going through! PCOS is in its own arena and it can get pretty brutal in there. Keep up the fight, Praying you get that BFP Soon!!
