Negative opk 3 hours after my first positive?!?

Ok someone please explain to me how this is possible. I took an opk yesterday at 3:30 and it was negative, took one this morning at 10:15 and it was positive. Well I just took another one at 12:45 and it's negative!!! Is there any way the positive could have been wrong??!? That's a super short surge!! Usually I get positives for at least 2 days! (4 tests)

Oh and I use the expensive smiley face clear blue OPK's, so I didn't misread my smiley face!
Please help!

you could have had a shorter surge maybe say 5 o clock that night and then when you took it at 1015 it was pos. that could be 17 hours of positives. Or maybe you just usually get lucky and catch your whole surge. GL and hope you catch your egg!

did you look at the stick when you ejected it??

i've had smileys before but the stick had a blue smudge across the window giving me a false positive.

i dunno.
i'm still very upset with CB. i've had two instances with blue smudges on different cycles-both smileys.

one time i didn't throw urine away and retested with a new stick. held in urine for recommended 15 secs and no smiley.
such an expensive test to waste sticks

i called the company and my doctor.. both pretty much said the same thing..those tests cant detect something thats not there. you could get a false negative, by having diluted urine or not holding your pee long enough, but they said, a positive is a positive and I should treat it as such. We are BD'ing tonight and I hope and pray that we catch it!!!

what did the company say about the smudge??

i've called before and she convinced me that the stick was "too saturated" with urine. i gave her the lot number. she sent me new box and received it within a few days.
now i'm super confused bc they told you something different.
so the smudges don't matter??

nope, said smudges dont matter.. weird they give out conflicting info.. doesnt make sense though that being oversaturated could result in a false positive...
