Semen analyst

Very discouraged I am....

My partner just got his SA back which stated:
3 - total sperm count!
20- immature forms
6-10 WBC
Great motility, velocity, Kinetics

What does this mean!?!?!?! Infection, inflammation, prostate?
How can we get more healthy sperm?!?!

He had a vasectomy reversal 8months ago with present sharp continual right testicular pain....
I have irregular periods and started clomid this cycle, but feel I should stop until we get him straightened out.

Please any help is needed. I'm not sure what we should do?.... Get a semen culture? Ultrasound? He really doesnt like the idea about scheduled love making (every other day), but isn't that the only way...

I need answers and everyone is on holidays

Thanks

Is anyone familiar with this? Would an infection reduce total sperm count??

Any help appreciated...

Hi I'm not an expert but didn't want to read and run! Infections , being too hot ie hot baths, extreme tiredness, vitamin deficiency can all cause low sperm!

I have heard fantastic results with wellman conception vitamins! Also I would try a few rounds clomid as you only need 1 sperm...

Good luck sorry I can't be more help, you may find answers in secondary infertility thread

We both take maca root in our morning shake and my guy donated 64mill/ml last iui. It's given to animals too to help herds multiply. The health food store guy said you need alot more of it that just a couple tabs/day, do heaping tablespoons (which is why I make us morning berry shakes with vit c powder + omega 3-6-9 oils).

Thanks guys! I'm thinking it is probably an infection... Who would have thought an infection could decrease sperm production SO much!! He starts Cipro. Antibiotics today for 2-4 weeks.
I will definitely try the macs root, and vitamin C ...wish us luck!! If anyone can think of anything else that would increase the swimmers, let me know!!

Thanks!

My husband has a reversal in Nov 2011. The doctor said that for up to a year he might have sharp pains occasionally and that was normal. As for the count, does the 3 mean 3 million? Our concern was that both sides did not connect. Turns out they are connected but after an 11 year vasectomy, his motility is horrible (3%). Doctor put him on multi-vitamins to help increase count and motility and we have our first IUI planned for Mon and Tue if my ultrasound on Sunday is good.
As for you being on clomid, I take it you've been checked out by your doctor? Personally, I would stop the clomid and have your husbands issues fixed first. The clomid is something you can't be on for very long so if sperm issues are happening, the clomid won't help just yet.
As for planned sex, yeah it sucks, but unfortunately, that's what we are stuck with if we want to time it perfectly. The best thing I can suggest maybe, is trying to spruce up the romance on those days....bubble bath, sexy outfit, candles, etc...
Good luck and if you need anymore advise there is a great forum called
The Vasectomy Reversal Wives & Girlfriends Club. aka (VR WAGs). Great group of ladies!!!

Thank FTCtexas! Your hubby has had a vasectomy reversal at the same time as mine. Yup, he scored 3million swimmers but the ones he had had good motility which is good. His high WBC and immature forms leads me to think he has an infection..... In one way, I hope so! Your right, I'm going to stop my clomid after this cycle...no point taking it now.

Thanks for your response

3 million isn't bad for your first SA. Just my opinion, but have put him on the multi vitamins the doc has and give it a couple of months, then try the SA again. Every woman I've talked to has said her husbands sperm count went up as well as motility after taking multivitamins. I'm not sure a doctor can determine if he has an infection just based on sperm count but after the vitamins, if he's still having issues with the number then it's possible one side did not connect. That was my biggest fear the whole time for us. Don't get me wrong, one side can still get you pregnant but two is definitely better.
And I'm glad your getting off the clomid. Right now it's doing you more harm than good until you and your husband figure out the issue with his swimmers.

Good luck and keep us posted!!
