I was on depo for many years and got pregnant the month that followed. My cousin was late getting hers by two days and got pregnant so it's up to your body how long it takes. Best of luck to you and yours hope you get one to stick!
I was also on depo for about a year, i liked the idea of not getting my period but my mom didnt think it was a great idea, so I went off of it and tried birth control, 6 months after the pills, I got pregnant, misscarried, then on birth control now...only on it for 15 more days and then hubby and I can try again! Good Luck with you!
I had terrible experiences with Depo. I was only on it for 9 months..
I gained 30 pounds in 3 months.
I dried up completly down south and my skin down there would crack open and get infected, so I had to use this estrogen cream stuff for nearly a year after words so I wouldn't be totally and utterly miserable.
Near the end of my journey with Depo, I was told that I looked as if I was going through menopause (I was 19 or 20 at the time) and that if I didn't stop taking it now I would never have children.
Even with the help of birth control pills coming off of Depo, it took me two months to get a cycle. My body took two years to return to normal down there and I still carry 15 of the 30 pounds I gained.
My sister in law, on the other hand, got pregnant "accidently" about 6 months after coming off depo. Then again my husband's side of the family are all like super fertile baby making machines.
(Did I mention she got pregnant a few months after I started actually *trying* to make babies? )
It's typical isn't it. You spend so long tryin not to get pregnant, then when you want to it's so hard. yet it happens on one night stands! it's crazy. lol. I am absolutly terrified of pregnancy, so scared i'm goin to be very sick as i have a phobia of it. but the urge to be a mommy is startin to overtake that now......
Shorty2k8 and SlinkyPick we are all in a very similar situation!! we should keep each other posted on our journies. i was on depo for 6 years, came off last dec and had first AF 14 days ago. dont hink anyones ever been so excited to see AF!! not doing any ov testing or temp taking yet...will start that in a few months if i get nowhere xx
hi all ... i was on the injection for about 10 years but i have now been off the injection for 7/8 months and me and my partner are ttc ... but i understand it is soooo frustrating, i wish the effects of the injection was explained to me more as i was 15 when i went on the injection and they never said how much it messes with your body but on the other hand it has gave me the protection until i found the right man as iam terriable at remembering to take tablets.
I have now bought some ovulation test kit because the not knowing if my body is back to normal is driving me nuts... even tho my periods have now returned ive read that the periods can return but u may not be ovulating hence buying the test.
But we have only just got the kit and i have missed my timing this month so having to wait til nxt month to test ... but fingers crossed.
