Need Advice

I have an appointment with my gyno tomorrow (for my yearly exam) and I plan on telling her that my hubby and I have been TTC for 2 cycles now. I know for a fact she is going to tell me that I should lose some weight (since I am overweight) before my hubby and I try to get pregnant because that is what she told me before. Since then I've lost about 15 lbs. When I told my family doctor my hubby and I are wanting to try to get pregnant he was all for it!!

I am 29 and my hubby will be 40 in a few months (yeah I know, quite an age difference huh!?) and he keeps saying that he doesn't want to be an old fart dad lol! So, that doesn't really give me a whole lot of time to lose a bunch more weight. Not to mention that I have hypothyroidism which could take me longer to get pregnant

I also saw the same gyno due to frequent and long periods. At one point I would get my period 2 to 3 times a month and bleed for 9-12 days straight and she told me it was because of my weight Right now my cycles vary anywhere between 21 and 23 days. I thought that if someone was overweight they would have their period less frequently...??? I also asked her if she thinks I might have PCOS and she said she highly doubts it, and again attributes everything to my weight I'm honestly starting to feel like she is blowing me off and not taking me seriously. I think there is something more going on than me being overweight but she doesn't seem to think so. I will see what she says tomorrow...

I am at the point to where I think I might try to find a different gyno because after over 3 years of having periods 2-3 times a month I want to find out what is going on NOW so we can get pregnant!!

What would you do if you were in my shoes?

I would explain to her that you feel like there is more going on than just the weight issue, and if you cannot get some help checking it out you will be finding a new doctor and if that doesn't help, I would do just that. But I am impatient like that and don't like feeling like I am being blown off by my doctor, of all people. Good Luck!

Honestly, unless you are VERY seriously overweight, I don't think any doctor should have the right to tell you that you are fat and that it is why you are irregular and that it could not possibly be any other reason. I think that your gyno is being rude and I don't think she really cares what's going on and just blames your weight because it's easy to do so. I would be getting a new doctor either way if it were me. I wouldn't give her any more time or money.

I completely agree with KalonKiki!! She sounds like she doesn't care for your wellbeing! I would definitely see another doctor if it was me!
