First round and confused (warning long post)

Hi Ladies,

This is my first time posting in a TTC forum and you guys seem the absolute best after forum stalking for about 2 days

I have irregular periods where I can skip months for no reason. Let me give you a little bit of a background.

For years Ive had on and off periods missing months and then being fine for a few months. When I was younger they tested me to see if I had any problems at that point and saw nothing. I was just "irregular" which at the time really didnt bother me, I mean young girl missing a month of pain thats a plus lol

Both my mother and her sister have had problems having children, my mother had the most and I was the only one that stuck and after that she was unable to have any other children, As for my aunt it took her till her early 40's and two rounds of IVF for the first then one for the second.

This scares me seeing as we seem to be at the start of our road in this and it doesnt seem to be a great start looking at their past problems.

In October I missed a month then into November AF landed on 13th so with the help of mymonthlycycles I dated around the end of the month in November to try for this month to become overly obsessive POAS (which man thats just expensive) lol

Im now I "think" as I really cant be sure Ive missed a month or if Im going mad on roughly 9-10 DPO and all Ive had are BFN.

Ive never had a child so trying to "symptom spot" is pretty hard other than spending MANY hours ready through other peoples.

I havent really charted many of my symptoms seeing as we are in our first month of TTC but today and yesterday also Ive had on and off tingly nipples feeling pretty bloated (can be normal for me) and on and off slightly sick. As well as the weird twinges in my stomach I had a few days prior of quite a bit of cramping but that seems to have gone down and Im left with on and off pain in my left hand side. I also may be going mad but Im pretty sure I see the outside line around my nipples showing as a little darker and some blue veins popping up. Inbetween the constant trips to the bathroom the last symptom Ive been having and I dont really ever see anyone mentioning this is Im very cold a lot of the day, at night mostly and then during the afternoon I'll find it hard to eat up till the evening. Again this might be because I live in Scotland lol

Im sorry this is so long but I needed to get some of this "brain mush" out since its constantly swimming around my head.

So 4 days if I go by last month till AF is due and Im almost sure Im out for this month.

Thanks to anyone who got this far in my rant

Lucidx x

Hello lucidx, nice to hear from a fellow Scot!

I don't have much experience of irregular cycles unfortunately but I do have some thoughts on symptoms, if that helps?

I've been following my cycles and noting symptoms for the last few months so happy to share some of the things I experience every month:

I have a 27day cycle, almost without fail. I get ov pains on or around cd13 or 14 and have about a 13 day luteal phase.

On cd19, without fail, I get sore boobs, my nipples get bigger and more sensitive and I feel bloated. This is, I've been told by my doc, because that's when my progesterone levels increase ready for implantation. And when this doesn't happen, levels drop and my period comes.

Every single month I convince myself the sore boobs and feeling of pressure down there is because we got lucky but then the soreness goes away and af arrives a few days later.

I think that, because we are ttc, I am so much more conscious of what my body is doing and try to analyse all the wee feelings!

I'm not sure if that's of any use at all?!

Are you trying for your first? We haven't been ttc for very long and while im not panicking just yet, I'm going for some tests at the docs on Tuesday as I want confirmation that I actually ovulate!

Ps I've found that charting my temperature and cm helps to pinpoint ovulation. I use an iPhone app called kindara, I think it was free. If you have irregular cycles, maybe charting temp and cm might help get the timings right?

Hi MrsMac

Yes great to hear from a fellow Scot!!

Symptoms are just thee most horrible thing already everything makes me jump and investigate which is why Im probably zoned in on everything right now.

We are TTC #1 and its been a difficult time to get to here with my OH as sometimes I feel he would prefer it was a "happy accident" then planning because it scares him so much despite admiting he would like too as well. So thats got me all mind boggled as well.

Ive been thinking back to anything standing out when my period comes and the only thing that usually shows up for me is I eat more and get constipated. I dont normally have tingly boobs or itchy nipples. I infact dont pay too much attention to them haha.

What got me thinking about them was (TMI) my left nipple is inverted and been like that most of my life so been told its just something I'll have to live with, with that its been the one thats giving me the most problems like itchy or tingling which could mean totally nothing and Im making these up myself lol.

I know this might be another skipped month or even just af lands with his cackling laugh but its nice to hope isnt it?

Charting my temp sounds like a great idea I will look into that app thank you, oh actually I forgot to add as for the cm I very rarely get any really maybe a "splodge" (only word I could think of lol) and then thats it. So I suppose if I were getting more it would be a little more of a sign.

Anyway, many thanks for your reply and also the app suggestion

Omg, are we married to the same guy?! Lol!

My dh would rather it just happened instead of me talking about it all the time so I've started coming on here instead - I like to/need to talk about it cos I'm excited and have questions but don't want it to be the only thing we talk about. Venting/ asking qu's on here is helping I think.

I defo think that if sore boobs/ itchy nipples aren't common pms symptoms for you then sounds promising!

Really hope you get your bfp this month - how long until you can test?

I've got my work night out on Friday and it'll be a boozy affair so going to test then even though I'll only be 11dpo. I really don't want to drink just in case but I will not be able to get away with it, the girls at work would suss it straight away!

Im not married so possibly not but god is it so bloody annoying!!

I keep seeing all these lucky ladies with their husbands/boyfriends wanting to TTC without a problem and mine he's like a yoyo with it. Its so frustraiting

I have been testing since 7 dpo and all BFN which has been a waste of money lol but 4 more days until AF is due, I need to wait till then as I was pricing up the first responce one in tesco, 2 for 9.99. Cant be doing 3 boxes of them a week!!

I dont drink but I do smoke and that is something I need to cut down/out but Id be the same if I were having to go into the "festive party mode" with people youre working with and not wanting to explain the situation.

11DPO is what I'll be tomorrow and from what Ive read it seems as though many women seem to be getting positives if not faint ones. Do a post on the thread for tests so I can squint at it haha

Is this your first cycle? How are you feeling?

I know, men are a bloody pain sometimes!

We've been ttc for a few months now and he's ok if I don't constantly talk about it which I find so hard cos I'm so excited at the prospect of a bfp!!

I don't feel too bad right now, I think I will be ok for a few more months before I start to get a bit antsy.

I am at the doc on tues for cd21 blood to check hormone levels and have a colposcopy on thurs as my cervix is a bit concerning. Trying not to let it get to me but I have to say its taken the shine off ttc this month.

All being well, we'll carry on ttc. I'm 31, be 32 in feb, so really hope it doesn't take too long as I'd like a few!

I will definitely post a pic if I suspect a faint bfp - don't hold your breath though I'm not confident this month!

Yes! Actually a few moments ago OH was asking is there anything else that would make you happy right now, my answer was nope < Im sure this was his face! haha

Thats exactly how my OH is, if I stick to the motions and dont really bring it up he's fine to keep going but if I start talking about it then he has a mini freak out that he wont have his nightly beer and seeing his friends ever again.

Im the same if I were to be 6+ months down the line and nothing had happened then Id start to get a bit more worried to find out whats going on.

Like yourself Im thinking of arranging an appointment to see the doc to talk about things but I dont find my doc all that helpful really, probably just hand me some leaflets and tell me to get on with it

Oh I will keep my fingers crossed anyway, its nice to know someone out there is throwing baby dust at you

Hi All,

I am in the very first stages too and just getting used to all the signs that other people have posted on here regarding how to spot ovulation etc.

Knowing that stress is a hazard I asked my husband not to stress me out and take a few bullets that come our way in terms of stress this month but no its been the most stressful month ever !

Coming up to my high fertility in the next 2 days and I am hoping that this will be it but I dont know about you but I get so anxious at this time , hoping that this bd could be the one that changes my life
