Hi! Im new on here & hoping someone out there can help please!

I have been on the Microgynon 30 Pill for approx. 8 years and have now come off to try for a baby! How long does it normally take for the pill to come out of your system? Is it safe to try for a baby straight away after coming off the pill or should we use an alternative contraception until i have had my first 'normal' cycle?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I was on it. I was regular before hand, and now I am 6 weeks between periods.
My doctor said it's not unsafe to try, but it's harder, so don't get your hopes up.
It takes around 4-5 months for your body to get itself straight.
I'm on month 6 now, waiting for my 4 week cycles to come back!!!!]

Good luck!!!

I came off that pill at the end of February. My cycles have just returned to (what I believe is) normal. So it took me about 3ish months. All the websites and doctors normally say 3 months is the average time for your body to get rid of all the hormones from the pill.

Some research has now shown that some women are most fertile the month they stop the pill.

There's no harm in trying now!

Good luck hun!

I came off in May and am just approaching second AF. But there's some on here still patchy after 18 months. It's really difficult to tell. Hopefully you'll be regular soon! xxx

I have been off the pill (Trifeme) for 6 months now and my cycles still arnt completly regular (ranging from 27 days to 36 days), it is advised to have at least one nornal period first i think because the risk of miscarriage is slightly higher i think if you dont. But lots of girls have gotten pregnant that first month and have had no problems, so i guess just go with what feels right for you.

Coming off the pill can shorten your luteal phase for a while. Last cycle (which was my 6 month off the pill) I had an 8 day luteal phase, so although I ovulated and could have conceived. I don't think it would have been able to implant, as lining of womb would break down to soon. Some people are ok of course. My cycles are still a bit erratic some are 32 days some are 39 etc. I was on microgynan for several years, and have been on the pill since 16 and came off when I was 27.

My best friend was taking microgynon for 15 years up to october 2008. She has been trying to conceive since. Her cycles have returned to normal (every 26 days) but she has still not got pregnant. She is not stressed about it or worried just yet has her doctor advised it can take up to 18 months for her to be able to conceive. She is just having fun while she waits for her

I came off Micro on the 28th May had my withdrawl AF and nothing since.

I have been doing OPK's last few days and they have come back positive even though they are getting lighter now i must have missed my surge.

So even though i had not had an AF i am ovulating so that is a plus i think. If not a bit weird
