Question about ovulation and lh surge tests...

Has anyone done the ovulation tests (where it tests for the lh surge) and had a positive result and then been told by a doctor that they are not ovulating?

I have been ttc 17 months now. A few months back I bought the tests, when I was back at home, and took them. I got the LH surge the day after my ewcm.

I have had some people tell me that that does not mean I am ovulating, just means I have had the hormones.

I have not yet been to a doctor to ask. I am living in Abu Dhabi and doctors here do not have English as their first language, and frankly, I am scared to go to the doctor.

Btw…I am out of sticks for the test and cannot find them anywhere in this country. The pharmacists have NO clue about what I am asking for.

What have been your experiences with this?

It is possible to get LH surges and not ovulate or to get multiple surges in a cycle etc.
If you arent ovulating have you considered clomid?
Also, have you tried ordering the sticks online?

Good luck!

I am in Abu Dhabi and mailing costs are prohibitive. I don't officially know if I ovulate or not so am trying Clomid this cycle to see if it helps. It is available over the counter here.

You should try to get a BBT thermometer and try temping to see if you are ovulating that way.

Yes it is very possible to get an LH Surge and not ovulate. The hormone is always present in your body so its testing for something that is already there. The surge just tells your body when there is enough present to ovulate.

Do you have very large import tax then or something? I had a check for you on amazon- I assume Abu Dhabi comes under 'rest of the world' in international shipping, but even for that, costs weren't too awful, something between £3-5 which isn't too too bad but I know that it's quite a lot for a product which isn't that expensive in the first place! Hope that might help? Otherwise, I would just do some internet searching and brush up on other symptoms to look out for, such as cervical mucus and cervical position and temping etc!

Last time I looked on Amazon to ship something here it was about 50 dollars. This is what the costs range based on from America.

I gave up temping as my temp jumps all the time, even when waking with an alarm.

I do look at cm,get the ECM each month, was told that doesn't provei ovulate either. :/

I haven't quite got the hang of cervical positioning.tmi, bd feels different/slight pain if I do when af is around. (I don't give up then as my aunt, who charted for years, got bfp playing then even though it wasn't supposed to be O time.)

I have never been able to do the cervical position thing. I usually attempt to check my CM, but I am coming off my m/c and bleeding, so I haven't started fishing around up there too much.
