Can animals sense pregnancy...

My dog is being really loving lately, i mean he's a clingy puppy, but hes being extra clingy to me?! When im sat on the laptop he worms his way inbetween me and the laptop so he can lay on my belly/legs so i can cuddle him, then he falls to sleep on my chest....and just a minute ago, he was having a good old sniff of my belly and boobs lmao...
So i was just wondering.....is he sensing a little bubba? Or is he sucking up because he wants a new bone?! LOL

I doubt the animals would know before your HPT would ! Your dog might react to stress in the house or maybe is just trying to get a few extra treats out of you!

Actually one of me friends thought her dog behaved differently towards her when she was pregnant - really loving and clingy, so you might be on to something. Animals have very finely tuned senses. However, it's not really that reliable as it may just be that they want extra treats, so wait for the HPT before celebrating.

I've always wanted to know this. Whether it is a myth lol
Hopefully when I get pregnant my dog will somehow give me a clue.

I know my friend's dog was SUPER protective of her. She already knew she was preggers, but her dog was very cuddly, protective and very alert. That, though, is a focus group of 1.

My dogs are already cuddly lil' monsters, so I won't get a clue from them!! They're needy lil' lap dogs and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE attention. They live to sit on your lap and snuggle.

I hope not. Otherwise, my kitty deliberately tried to sabotage me. After dtd last night, while I was ummm "keeping the soup in the bowl", my kitty jumped on my belly. Of course, I shot up and my efforts were compromised.

They absolutely can! I had a MC in march. I felt pregnant. I have 8 pit bulls and a boxer/catahoula mix. all males. My blue brindle,Dante, is my baby boy. He was my first dog and naturally I'm closer to him so became overly protective of me. My other dogs would do VERY strange things like bring me pieces of dog food expecting me to eat it,nudging my belly, following me everywhere....lol....imagine having 9 shadows.

I also forgot to mention the following around..A few times i've had to tell him to go lie down as hes been under my feet!! He literally wont leave me alone! He even follows me to the toilet....And when hes not lying on me hes by my feet or in the middle of the room staring at me...Which is kind f creepy lol Im loving the attention though, normally its my OH that hes all cuddly with x

Dogs sense of smell is so strong they can sense changes to the skin, your secretions, etc. particularly hunting and sport dogs - there has been proof that pregnant owners have experienced their dogs behaving strangely, particularly male dogs, however, they can also behave this way when you are ovulating, particularly if they haven't been neutered.
