Luteal Phase changes - Any pearls of Wisdom ladies?

Hello Ladies. So I've just completed my 3rd cycle of charting bbt with FF and it has now offered a summary and it would seem that my luteal phase changes more than expected from cycle to cycle. C1 15 days. C2 16 days. C3 13 days.

It says this could be a sign of inaccurate temperatures and may require an adjustment of your personal stats. but apart from on occasions when I have woken up earlier than expected I take my temps at the same time every day vaginally!!! (sorry tmi) Does anybody else have experience of this? And if so what did you do about it?

A normal luteal phase is 12-16 days. So you are normal. Each cycle can vary a little bit. I wouldn't worry unless is got shorter or significantly longer.

Thanks Pretty Sakura. But I think what that means is one woman may have an LP of 12 days each cycle and another may have an LP of 16 days each cycle - Not 12-16 days per woman.

Following is the long form of FF advice on the subject:

Varying Luteal Phase Length

I thought the luteal phase was not supposed to vary. Why does my chart show that my luteal phase varies from cycle to cycle?

The luteal phase (the time between ovulation and menstruation) does not usually vary much from cycle to cycle, while the follicular phase (the time between menstruation and ovulation) can vary considerably. A variance of more than a day or two in your luteal phase usually means that ovulation may have occurred earlier or later than your chart indicates on one or more cycles and you may need to make some adjustments to your charts. You can use the manual override feature or the ovulation detection tuners to make adjustments.

Alternately, if you are unable to determine a more likely date, you may need to exclude one or more cycles from your statistics (Menu Data/Cycles).

If it is taking a long time to conceive and you are sure that you are charting accurately, a varying luteal phase length is something you may want discuss with your doctor.

as long as you take your temp before you do absolutely anything at same time everyday, it should be fine, and luteal phase doesn't stay the same, it can change as mentioned above by a couple of days,
reading yours though i am jelous, lol, as im lucky if i get a 10 day luteal phase, lol

"Taking charge of your fertility" is a great book that answers alot of these type of questions. I highly recommend it!

Thanks girls. I guess FF gave me a bit of a fright. I'm gonna go and interogate the Dr on Thursday anyway.
