I had the same difficulties as you.
I was trying for 12 months before falling pregnant and discovering i had an underactive thyroid.
I found my cycles very irregular and often annovulatory. in the 12 months TTC i had 6 periods and two of them at least were without ovulation.
I actually found out i was PG the day before my appointment with a fertility specialist and it was his tests which determined my thyroid issue. had i not had the tests and discovered the thyroid problem my story could have been very different as an untreated thyroid condition can cause growth issues with the baby.

in terms of dosage i started out at 50mg and that increased to 75mg at 28 weeks PG. they started me out slightly higher due to already being PG. it is a low dose but don't worry the consultants know what they're doing and your dose will be increased accordingly.

As of May 2009, at most laboratories in the U.S., the official "normal" reference range for the Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) blood test runs from approximately .5 to 5.0.
That's from a website about normal TSH levels. Glad to hear that AF arrived... don't usually get to say that on here! LOL Good luck on your first cycle of TTC!

Just to let you know, it usually takes 4-6 weeks to see a change in your thyroid levels, and high levels (and low) can definitely cause anovulation and fertility issues, it's great you've been diagnosed! I had thyroid cancer, so they removed it and now take a daily dose, I was told a level of around 1.0 is good for fertility. They'll titrate your dose depending on how you respond, (also, during pregnancy, it'll prob be raised), congrats on the AF, and now you're on your way!!
