Anyone who has been TTC for a while now?

I am currently WTT no#2. Baby#1 did take a fair ammount of time but contraception was on and off so have no real way of checking how long. My qestion is, has anybody been religiously having sex every other day and still not managed to conceive quickly? I ask, as I have my date to start trying, 1st Oct 10, hoping to be pregnant by christmas, I do not want it to go any further than this point due to a few reasons. Do you think I should push my date forward a little? I dont want to get pregnant straight away if I do that though hehe ooo its such a gamble, but yea with the regular sex question? Any advice? Thanks

I popped in from WTT too. Would love to see the answer as am seriously considering moving into TTC/ntnp sooner than planned for this reason.

Edit: Just saw Mrs LP has a similar thread..

I would suggest you monitor your cycles for the next few months and even try doing BBT charts to see where you're at. It should give you a bit of a clearer picture and help you decide what to do

I waited for the 'right time' TTC and that was back in March 2008 and no BFN but then I'm not even ovulating. That's a whole other story...

More sex doesnt equal getting pregnant quicker unfortunaley! Many women have only had sex once in their cycle and ended up with a bfp! Its better to concentrate on pin pointing an O day and getting a few of the little guys in before and on the day to increase the chances, but still with that there is only a 20%-25% chance that egg and sperm will meet and result in conception. Some get lucky and is happens early others have to keep on going!

I have sex atleast every 3 days and have been ttc for 5 months now. Having sex every day isn't a good idea, as it depletes the sperm count and sperm's motility. I just started using a fertility monitor and charting my BBT. I have always used opks, but still no successful pregnancy. When I do pick up ovulation, I have sex every day for about 3 days, to cover all bases. Supposedly, only 50% of couples are pregnant within 6 months of TTC though, so I don't feel that worried yet. If I haven't gotten pregnant by June 2010, my doctor is going to start running tests. I think stress has been a contributing factor to me being unable to get pregnant. I know my time will come...I just wish it was sooner than later! If I were you, I would wait until you're completely ready because you may be one of the lucky ones to get preggers asap. Good luck!

AHhh thanks for the replies. I know with my first we tried the day I was ovulating according to temp and pee stick haha So I think I must have been really lucky as Id only started cheking for ovulation that month! Well I have decided to stop taking my birth control now, so I cant let my period settle back to normal, and get a count on my real cycle again. I will also start to monitor temperature etc again and then after my hols next September keep my fingers and tosies crossed! x
