Help! Question about smear tests and TTC

My smear test is coming up next week on CD14. If I was about to ov (wishful thinking if you look at my chart) then will the test delay ov? Also do you have to not BD couple of days before?
Lastly, would it be safe to do after ov/in early pg?

Any advice much appreciated!

Hiya,
You're not meant to BD for a few days before a smear, as far as I know - if I were you, I'd try to book another test, unless you're happy to leave BD'ing til after your smear.
Somewhere in the recesses of my mind, I seem to remember being told you're supposed to have s smear towards the beginning of your cycle but I'm not sure. Were you sent an info leaflet with your appointment letter? You could try looking it up on NHS Direct's website or somewhere similar. It's the kind of thing you don't tend to remember, only having to endure them every 3 years or so, isn't it?

Have looked at your chart - I don't see why you won't ovulate this cycle - your temps aren't that dissimilar to last time around! Chin up x

Thanks for replying! I do think I will ov this time it was just CD24 last time so CD14 would be wishful thinking for ov...
I will be away with work CD12 & 13 anyway so will have had a BD break (bad timing if ov happens)
Just read guidelines...no BD 24 hours before and middle of cycle is best.
Got treatment for severe dyskariosis a year ago and had all clear 6 months ago so its just a checkup...a bit nervous, hope it comes back normal or I might have to delay ttc.

In my first pregnany i had not had a smear test for some time and they wanted to do it early in the first trimester. I am from the UK but live in Canada and i was a bit wary of getting it done as i thought messing about with your cervix when your newly pregnant might not be the best thing. Over here though its totally routine in Canada and the US. I had it done about 5 wks pg and everything was fine. I am not sure what the policy is in the UK though for smears when pg.

Sorry to ask, but what's dyskariosis? Fingers crossed for you that everything's OK so you can keep ttc
