So confused/worried...

Hey everyone, I need some advice.

So DH and I have been ttc for a few months. I had a period on the 31st December, we ttc in January, I tested with some ICís and got bfnís and then AF started again on 28 January.

Iím approaching my fertile time again but last night when I went to the toilet and wiped there was some bright red blood and a few clots (sorry if itís tmi) so this morning I took an IC with fmu and there was a faint second line.

Could I be pregnant with such a faint line after my period?? I would have thought the line would be a lot darker by now as I would be about 5weeks and 5days pregnant. Iíve seen other posts where they ended up being ectopic so thatís what Iím worrying about.

Also, I had a transvaginal ultrasound on Monday to check up on a cyst (which had disappeared)...if I was pregnant would he have seen something on the scan?

I donít know what to do or if it was just a dud test so Iím going to hold my pee for four hours and test again and see.

I would say buy a more reliable test then speak to your doctor depending on the result. Some ICs can take a much longer time to show positive.

The ultrasound tech could very well have saw something, but I've heard of people having early scans and seeing nothing as well. When I've had ultrasounds regarding cysts the tech isn't even allowed to tell you about what they see anyway, it's always been a report to my doctor, so maybe they have saw and just not been able to say?

I hope this works out well for you

Thanks Xarlenex, I just did another IC but it was a bfn so maybe the positive was just a dud. I bought a frer test so I’ll try that tomorrow morning just in case. I’ve never had a positive test before so I was really shocked to see it! I’ll update you on how I get on

That's quite a line. I would definitely retest to make sure, maybe ask for a beta too, to definitely confirm. A transvaginal scan may have shown something if it was in the right place but possibly wouldn't in the case of ectopic, so I think it's best to get a beta to be on the safe side and put your mind at rest

Hey HappyCupcake! If I get another positive tomorrow I’ll ring up and see about getting my bloods done. I’ve never been pregnant before so I don’t have a clue what the next step is

I’ve spent the whole day looking up about other people in the same situation and it doesn’t look good if it is a real bfp, it probably is an ectopic pregnancy. I’ll just have to wait and see what happens tomorrow

You would have been 5+1 Monday when you had your scan? Are you definite about when you ovulated? It's possible if the 28th was a proper period you'd only be just shy of three weeks pregnant, you may have ovulated quite early on and this is why you're seeing a positive now. Or it could be that that wasn't a proper period and was an early pregnancy bleed, in which case there's a chance if you were only just about five weeks they may not have seen anything, more so if you're not definite on when you ovulated before, you could be a little earlier. To add, it's also possible if they only looked at your ovaries they may have missed anything else completely

HappyCupcake - thank you for your post, I was using clear blue opk’s to track ovulation, it could be off by a day or two. I took a frer test this morning and there was a shadow where the second line should be, which I’ve never had before. I think that it must have been a chemical pregnancy/ very early miscarriage. I had a very early miscarriage last year too, but there was a lot more bleeding. I’ll test again on Monday morning but I think it’s already gone. I’m going to stop ttc until May, loose a bit of weight and be healthier to start ttc again.

I think it's a good idea to retest Monday

I agree with retesting on Monday, just wanted to add...when I was pregnant with both of my children nothing could be seen on a vaginal unltrasound I was even diagnosed as having PUL (pregnancy of unknown location) but was in fact pregnant. Only after 6weeks they saw a sac developing but nothing inside. But all was fine and healthy. So you just never know anything is possible xx

^Yes, I have heard many with similar stories. The earliest we saw any of ours was 5+6, and I think we were pretty lucky to have seen anything at that time as it seems most only see anything after 6 weeks
