only a 30% chance of getting pregnant each month if healthy?? read.
what is all this im reading about a completely healthy couple only has a 30% chance of concieving each month? if this is true why are there so many unexpected pregnancies and teen pregnancies? everytime i see that it makes me feel so down. could someone shed some light on this??
It's like roulette. Low odds, but with so many people playing SOMEBODY'S gotta win. And there's a reason there is the phrase "beginner's luck". I dunno. Not fair at all, but with billions of people on the planet having sex it is bound to happen.
I think it is a timing thing too, with the sperm living for 5 days, and the egg only being around for part of 1, the sperm have to be in the right place at the right time, the lining has to be just right, your CM is usually quite unsperm friendly most of the time etc etc
I was a teen mum, and to be honest if I had a clue how it happened, I would be using that info right now, but in all honesty, anyone having regular unprotected sex is in with a chance, so is anyone who has unprotected sex on their ov day, even teens and those who are not trying.
It just seems easier for people who aren't trying to those who are, but there are definaely many more planned pregnancies than unplanned which is a good thing!! xx
My oh always tells me that the easiest way for me to get pregnant would be for us to borrow my dad's car, go park it on an overlook somewhere and get busy in the back seat. He also thinks it would help if I was wearing a cheerleading outfit - but I'm pretty sure that's just him being a perv.
Seriously though - it is discouraging that a totally healthy couple only has a 30% chance of hitting the mark every time, even if they do absolutely everything right. Those would be pretty fabulous odds in Vegas - but I don't like them when I'm trying to get a little bean. Maybe I'll call my dad and see if we can borrow his car next month...
To be fair you only hear about the teenagers/people having unprotected sex who end up with the unplanned pregnancies. For every 3 of those i am sure there are a lot more than 7 who don't end up pregnant. Watching/reading too much soaps, films, boks etc though would easily convince you otherwise.
I think 30% is quite encouraging. Means that odds are on that in 3 or so months it will happen for most, fingers crossed!
I'm with you on feeling that it's so unfair. One of my girlfriends had an unplanned pregnancy in her late teens and she jokes with me that the fastest way for me to get pregnant would be if I totally wasn't ready for it, as that's what happened to her. It is a bit of a downer, but hopefully if we keep trying our BFP will come soon. Good luck!
