FRER vs. New Choice tests

So if one were to get a super faint, barely there second line on an FRER test, how long do you think it would it take to get a BFP on a New Choice (Dollar Tree) test?

I've heard FRER tests pick up hCG levels of 12.5 and that New Choice tests pick up between 25 and 50. Does that sound right?

If you were to have an hCG level of 12.5 what would the line look like on the FRER test?

Putting aside the fact that each individual test varies slightly in the hCG levels it picks up, and assuming that FRER tests pick up a level of exactly 12.5 or more and that New Choice tests pick up a level of exactly 25 or more, and if the doubling time for hCG levels is 48 hours (I've heard that's the norm? Is that number the correct average?) then one could expect to get the same line on a New Choice test that one got on a FRER test two days prior, correct?

So again, to restate the question, if one were to get a super faint, barely there second line on an FRER test, how long do you think it would it take to get a BFP on a New Choice (Dollar Tree) test?

I'm asking this because I got a couple of very, very faint second lines on three separate FRER tests. The first one was almost invisible, and the second two were still pretty invisible, but still possibly there. Although others could see the lines when I posted pictures, none of us are considering it anywhere close to a BFP. I used up all of my FRER tests and I don't want to break down and buy more FRER tests (even if they are better/more sensitive) because I have a BUNCH of New Choice tests.

I am between 8 and 12 DPO (I don't know for sure because I had strong signs of ovulation suggesting I ovulated on either CD9 or CD13... or both? Is that possible?) and the first FRER test was used at either 6DPO or 10DPO, and the other two either 7DPO or 11DPO. (***I'm not saying I ovulated between CD9 and CD13, I'm saying I for sure ovulated one of the two days***)

I got faint lines on my New Choice tests just a couple of days after I got them on FRER. I don't remember for sure, but it was just either 1 or 2 days later that the New Choice got a faint line. I am stocking up on tests for another TTC go-round after MC, and I am buying both brands, plus ICs. Haha can you tell I am addicted to the darn things?

Thanks! That's what I was thinking, but I don't know. I'm just impatient! I might get discouraged if I don't see a second line tomorrow. I think I might have been getting super, super faint lines on my New Choice tests today, but I'm not sure. Here's a link to my posts with pics of the FRER tests

LOL me too! That's why I went out and bought a TON of New Choice tests. I knew that if I bought FRER tests or CBE digis I'd be using them like crazy and pretty much wasting them.

Hey there! i was just in this situation, first tested yesterday with FRER and got faint line at 9 dpo used same urine with new choice and it was neg. That was my last frer so didnt use one today but used new choice again and got a faint positive...so it took a good 24 hours at least for the new choice to show up after FRER...here is a link to the thread i started on that with my pics

Those look EXACTLY like my tests! I almost can't tell if it's a line or if it's just shadows on the antibody strip. So frustrating! I had the same problem with my FRERs. I also have the new ones with the visible antibody strip. So frustrating! I was excited because I'd never seen anything on an FRER before, but I guess that's common with the new ones.

Was it hard to get the lines to show up on camera? I can see mine better in person, and they're almost invisible on screen.

Here's a link to a thread I made with pics of my tests:

Same here for the New Choice tests. The only difference this time around is that on the latest FRER I can see the line without tilting the test, and it's pinkish. So I don't know. It showed up right when the background turned completely white, but when the test completely dried the line faded a little. I saw a line, and then it disappeared so I opened the case (two hours after taking the test)

A side note on the FRER test, the very light pinkish line that I see is just on the other side of the antibody strip, not right down the middle of it, if that makes any sense.

New Choice, according to peeonastick.com , are actually more sensitive than FRER. However, each test can be different, and each test (even of the same brand) can have sensitivities that vary.
One New Choice test may be 12 miu, another 10 miu, and another 7. But they're quoted as being as sensitive as 7 miu.

Yeah, I think I mentioned that the sensitivity varies, but if I wasn't clear enough on that point I'm sorry!

If I'm not mistaken, POAS says that the old FRER detect 12.5 while New Choice tests detect 25. The company that makes FRER now claims 25 for the new tests, but at the same time they claim their tests are more sensitive than the old ones. When the tests first came out the company claimed they could detect hCG levels of 50 or more, and later changed that to 25, and then 12.5.

Sorry I must not have read it correctly. I wasn't trying to correct, anyhow. Just throwing that info out there. Sorry if it came out wrong. I've been super out of it today. Also, I just checked POAS; official is 25 for New Choice but anecdotal is 7.

I'm not sure if this helps or not. All of the sensitivities and differing company statements really boggle my brain. As if it wasn't boggled enough!
