I think a better way to look at it is not a "missed" period, but a long cycle. Instead of thinking of each month as a separate time in which you wait for a period, think of each cycle as separate. So you don't start a new cycle until the old one is over (a new period). Meaning it's never a missed period, it's a long cycle. So you may ovulate late, and therefore have a long cycle. Changing hormones can cause this (you mentioned your age), and stress, exercise, and travel can mess with your cycle. If it starts to happen more often than not, or it takes you too long to conceive, you might want to talk to a doctor about it.

Ah, I see! That makes sense, thanks. I still feel like it's too early to go to the doctor on any fertility issues, though I suppose I'm just hoping that everything will take care of itself before then. If I still haven't gotten pregnant in a few months I'll go.
