Question about Prolactin and Progesterone levels

I had some blood work done on the 21st day of my cycle this month in the morning. Well the lady at the lab said that I didn't have to fast so I ate a small granola bar and water... well I got my results back and she said it wasn't good but not bad either.

Thyroid good
Prolactin - 23 (a little High)
Progesterone 7 (not good)

Now according to her prolactin should be 17 and below and Progesterone should be 10 and higher.... Well they forwarded the results to my fertility doctor and he said the Progesterone is good and my Prolactin is a little high. He wants me to retest again and make sure it wasn't something I ate and he wants me to fast for 3 hrs before I get up their..

SO I am confused , is my progesterone level too low?? WTH?? How do I get these 2 or 1 treated??

Soo confused... think I am going to eat a mostly whole grain, little meat, and vegetable diet to see if it helps my next test at all..so confused,

Inputs would be great from someone who has gone through all this testing and stuff. Thanks!

I am in the same boat....I did bloodwork as well and my prolactin was high along with my testosterone...looking for the same answers...I am taking Vitex that presumably lowers prolactin and testosterone....

my estrogen and progesterone was fine....I have regular periods...ovulate CD17 or 18 with a 15 day LP

I have heard of cabergoline and bromocriptine being used to lower prolactin

We are going to a fertility specialist soon and I will post here what he says but hopefully I will have answers before and post here too

good luck!

High prolactin can inhibit ovulation, mine was high when tested but I breastfeed, and it did push my ovulation back.

My progesterone was 11 the month I conceived and this was considered low, so Id say at 7 you defo have low progesterone, but this could be a result of the prolactin. Also are you sure you ovulated 7 days b4 the test? As if you ovd late that could cause the low result.

There is treatment for high prolactin. If your prgesterone shows you dont ovulate then clomid could be used with progesterone suppositries

I recently went for blood tests and they found my prolactin was high, not sure of the exact levels but my doc said if it is only slightly high it could be caused by stress. The first nurse I saw for blood tests couldn't get any out and when she was stabbing at me I felt faint (pathetic I know but think I was a bit dehydrated). The second nurse got it first time but doc said she thought I might have got myself a bit stressed cos it hadn't gone well first time. Got tested again following month and came back fine so after all that fairly long windedness, you might find it goes down and it might just be stress related.

My progesterone was 17 on the recent day 21 test which the doc said wasn't that great - not sure why going off what you have been told.
